If RC is currently getting an email with his weekly settlement and he just needs to redirect the email to a different account. He can use a Macro #32 and update his info and Maverick will send the stub there.

I must have missed that part in orientation re leaving the truck in automatic unless decending a hill. Is he confusing this with the engine brake? In my almost 2 years with Maverick, I have never driven down the road with the truck in automatic. I might switch the truck into auto once a month to make sure that feature still works.

    MPG tips:

    1. Shift manually- When in automatic the truck shifts at a higher RPM especially in the lower gears. tell him to watch how much higher the rpms are when the truck shifts in automatic than it allows you to shift in manual.

    2. Slow down- My buddy runs at 57 no matter what and is always above 7.0 MPG. I go even slower than that. 50 if empty. 55 when loaded. RPMS no higher than 1250 when climbing a steep hill requiring you to downshift.

    3. Reduce your idle time- Now granted, i'm called hardcore when it comes to idle time but I DONT IDLE. When its hot, i sweat, when its cold, i sweat too cause i have a good pair of thermals and a good coldrated sleeping bag. -20F I believe.

Just my top 3 but in doing so the lowest my MPG for the qtr was a 7.2. 7.761 at the end of last qtr. Sitting at 7.8+ right now. No i dont buy my own fuel

As far as doing things the way more experienced drivers do, as long as the more experienced drivers are doing things the Maverick way, sure. But at a place where you can watch lets say 5 drivers secure and tarp, you'll prob see 5 different ways of doing it. You see a good looking tarp job, go over and compliment the driver who did it, tell him/her you would like your tarps to look that way and perhaps ask them to show you how?

I agree with Bookerz control your right foot and you can achieve 7 or better MPG running in automatic, I have a 2010 Cascadia and I am getting 7.16 mpg right now with a 48K lb payload granted I don't have to idle for heat or AC. I gennerally run at 60 mph loaded or empty and have been able to stay above 7 mpg. I had a 05 before the Cascadia and averaged 7.2 ( Made the $.02 bonus every quarter I have been employed by Maverick)so I am not finding a lot of difference between the two. Couple of tips, Don't use your engine brake unless you have to,(MontEagle,Black Mtn.,Fancy Gap, Grapevine, Etc.), invest in a couple of 12v fans, keep your RPM's around 1350, invest in a cab curtain( $20.00), window screens ($20.00), keep that left door closed, and above all control that right foot. Latest update.

Redcoat made his drop early this morning in Louisville with no issues. Didn't take long and he got a dispatch to pick up a trailer that was already loaded with stainless steel plate in Ghent, KY. He bounced over to there in less than an hour and arrived around 0930. Then it took him 4 1/2 hours to swap everything from his trailer to the other trailer and then remove and fold up the yard tarps, a job he called "donkey work."

After that he had to secure the load and tarp it. He didn't have enough chains but another Mav driver was there and suggested how he could chain it down with what he had plus a couple of strategically located tie-down straps. It was 1400 before he rolled out the yard on his way to Riverside, MO. He has a delivery time between 0700 and 2000 Tuesday. He plans to try to make it to Maverick's yard at Madison to spend the night and drive the rest of the way the next day.

    Stay tuned.

Tell him on a trailer swap in ghent to really check out the trailers. They beat the snot out of them there. Drag the landing legs, bust the welds on the supports to them. Missing mudd flaps all kind of damage there. Might need 8 tires????:biggrin_2556: They have drug the trailers before loaded with no air hooked up.

Thats a good term for it...there is not one thing in this world I hate worse than a preloaded flatbed...for the driver, they are nothing but a pure headache.

Sorry but I'm a little confused. When ever I got a preloaded trailer I loved it. Unhook from one and hook to the loaded trailer. It would be partially tied down and I usually just had to finish chaining or strapping and then tarp it. I don't understand why he had to switch everything from the preloaded trailer back to his trailer. Just drop and hook and go or am I missing something. Is Maverick making their drivers keep one trailer with each cab?:mshocked:
