I have another month before I start school in Knoxville.
-
Are you going to TN Truck Driving School? I start next week and would be glad to pass on any info I can to anyone planning on going there.
-
Yes I am... I will start in August. And yes anything would be appreciated.
-
Maverick...Flatbed....Period....
123456 and Rigbuilder Thank this. -
Ok, I'll update with info on the school as the days go by. Not sure it will be everyday since I'm sure most will be repetitive.
-
jxu are you a Maverick driver? If so what's your overall impression of the company and the miles/$ if you don't mind me asking?jxu417 Thanks this.

Sewerman do you drive for Maverick, do they have a lot of freight coming through the Memphis/Nashville area?
-
Yes, I am a Maverick Flatbedder, look at my profile. (Kind of gives it away LOL) I love Maverick, best decision I ever made. And, You must first ask permission to speak to the Almighty Sewerman. "His Majesty" is Maverick Royalty..... LMAO! He is an old-timer, with more experience than all of us on the Maverick threads put together.

I guess I will jump in on this one. I actually had Prime as one of the companies that I was looking at in the beginning. I have been driving for over 3 years now, all with Maverick. This is my first driving job.
I am on my way to North Little Rock to attend MIT (instructor training) so you might deduce i am sold on the company. I also have a tread on here Heading For Little Rock.
The things I did not like about Prime is that I did not want to be out for 60,000 miles with a trainer and not be home for 4 to 6 weeks at a time during the training, if I was lucky and there after.
I also did not like that they, at the time, dictated to you where you had to fuel...ie how many gallons at each stop ect.
And thirdly, they did not have their act together as far as getting back with me in a timely mannor when I was making my final decision.
Maverick treats you like a professional from the very outset and your behavior and performance dictates how you will be treated ongoing.
There has never been an issue that they did not resolve to my satisfaction. I get home almost every weekend.
I am at .445 cents a mile plus next quarter, because of the Pay for Performance program, I will be receiving an additional .06 a mile.
I am not going to bad mouth Prime, they are a successful trucking company and I am sure there are many satisfied drivers over there. I just like the way I am treated here, the equipment is top notch and they find a way for me to make more money every year!
Do your research. Get on the Prime threads. Stop at the truck stops and talk to the drivers.
Most of the guys that post here are happy with Maverck so you are not getting the negative out there.
So do your research and make an intelligent decision based on what you want...not what we like or don't like about a company.
Best of luck to you!
