You can tell who has never drove a truck before, swift and Werner are not top notch companies I have been in this industry for over 6 years and I have drove autos before also, just starting out in this industry maverick is going to be the best for any newbie in my opinion. I worked for Werner for 4 months, no home time little pay and have talked to alot of people swift is the same way, but do what you want it might be a mistake just remember respectable companies do not want job hoppers so chose wisely

Some companies want W-2 forms to prove employment. If you can't prove employment, they usually accept an affidavit.

As for automatic transmissions, I love them. Volvo put a couple of loaners in the company I worked for, hoping the company would consider purchasing them. I got one and drive it 48 states liquid and sometimes dry bulk tanker. Climbing steep grades & mountains, it did the downshifting & upshifting. As for backing up, the trick is, up the rpm's and feather the brake pedal to ease back, where with a manual you feather the clutch pedal. It took a while to master the backing, which was the only drawback.

you can shift the Maverick trucks manually just so that sheds a little light on this phobia of the "Automatics"- which they aren't really "Automatics" they are called Auto-Shifters, yes, you can select Automatic, or Manual shift. Most Maverick drivers shift manually for mpg reasons. Plus, there is no clutch pedal, so save the wear and tear on your knee, saves driver fatigue, and they are AWESOME in traffic.
