Second job hours are considered on duty and count against your 70.

Very true Rick G. If I have to work that hard and still need a second job, something has gone horribly wrong. I make more than enough money here pulling dry vans.

Edit: more than enough money to cover my bills and spending money.

I've always "worked hard" to stay out of debt (almost zero now to speak of), so I don't have to run myself crazy because I "need" to get X amount of miles per week. I talk to a lot of drivers who have multiple car payments, motorcycle payments, boat payments, alimony and or child support payments and so on and so on. I don't have a fancy car, jewelry,XBox or things of that nature because they all become obsolete and worthless. What I do have is "worry free home time" and "cash in the bank" (where it belongs) and that as they say is "priceless".

What are the trucks governed at, and what speed are you doing to achieve, what type of fuel mileage.

Most of the trucks are governed at 65, although I know of some that go 68. I'm pretty sure any truck that goes to Canada is set at 65.

If I run full speed at 65 constantly, I get around 7.0 to 7.2 depending on where I am, unless it's the northeast. I never seem to manage more than 6.7 in the NE regardless of what speed I'm running.

The guys that get the biggest bonuses for fuel usually run around 60 or so... I notice a lot of flatbedders like to stay around there.

I'm in glass and average about 2800-3000 miles a week. My last 34 hour restart was a month ago. I am making .54$ with the performance pay thing. The glass division's truck are governed at 64 but I run 62. I could go home every two weeks but stay out two-three months at a time.
