Note how long Sewerman has been driving . Chances of a newbie getting good hometime are slim unless you get a dedicated run .

I can;t speek for glass division but the flat bed division, they do try to get there drivers home. Dose it happen every week, No, but that is part of trucking. If you need to be home every week end then the over the road driving will not work for you. A week-end at home for most is, getting home Friday pm. and then leaving Monday am. A week-end at home for otr is 34 hours

:biggrin_2558:I have been with Mav. for two years. I have 27 years in the flatbedding industrie and I can say without a doubt that Mav. is best out of the 4 companies I have worked for. I have been stuck out over the weekend (mostly my choice). I have asked for time off and gotten it. I have recently started training students also. Mav. is a good choice. But it is hard work.

Again you are giving advice without knowing the facts. Maverick trys to get all of their drivers home on weekends for at least a 34 hr restart it doesn't matter how long they have been driving. The specialized division is on a 2 week dispatch and Cressler is correct in saying they don't get the hometime that drivers in the flatbed division do.

After being OTR for a year, if hometime matters to you, try finding a TGIFridays (or other resturant) that's hiring.

You'll get home more, and you'll get minimum wage. Neither of which I saw much OTR.

(Although I did eat at a lot of TGIF's,,, especially if they were next to a Wal Mart.)

I would agree with Mr. Cressler about Specialized. Their idea of hometime after being out on the road for 2 weeks was a 34 hour restart, which isn't my idea by the way. They couldn't understand that when I said I was leaving the house on Monday it meant Monday and not Sunday evening. They also had a habit of making me sit and wait for several hours on Friday after getting unloaded early so I would get home late Friday. Things there are really starting to do downhill real fast.
