Thanks for the info. I was liking the looks of them but didn't know if I wanted to deal with what flatbed would involve. Any advice or comments about them for a potential newbie?

Well, I'm a bit biased obviously, but they're a great company to start with, especially if you have no experience. They have great trainers and really nice equipment, and their starting pay rates are way higher than just about any other student company.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me. -
I'll need more posts for that, but I might be in touch if that's okay. I appreciate the help.

Ohh ok, well feel free to drop in on us Mavericks:

Well, I took my license test today and got through it. Our school's truck blew a steering tire and held up testing for a couple of hours to replace while one of our classmates was halfway through his road test. A couple had to reschedule. What a day! Anyway, I got a call on the way home from my recruiter to see how things were coming along. (Great communication with recruiters). I was told I could get set up for heading down this weekend if I let them know right away. I have a lot of serious thinking to do tonight. Now for a question I forgot to ask, is the TCD touch-free or do you load/unload your own. Is it truckload, or multiple stop LTL type?
-
Most loads are truckload, but we do have a few with multiple stops mixed in.
I generally don't touch the freight in my truck. I'm not paid to load or unload, that's what lumpers and comcheks are for. I have never been told I had to load or unload anything.
I have helped once or twice in specific circumstances, but that was my own choice. If there are lumpers at a location, Maverick will pay for it.ohionewbie1 Thanks this. -
Well, I'm headed to Little Rock tomorrow. I got invited for my orientation for the Temp. controlled division! Maybe I'll get to meet you guys sometime. This is pretty exciting.

Awesome and congrats!

Everybody says I should get a rewards card coming. Can you tell me where Maverick fuels? Maybe I can have one by the time I get back from training.
-
Any Pilot/Flying J. You can pick up the rewards card from any of their locations.
ohionewbie1 Thanks this.
