Maverick stopped doing the cdl training a while ago. I think I am in the same boat you are in. I went through a cdl training school and am now applying with Maverick. They do not offer tuition reimbursement either, but you do get a $500 sign on bonus 6 months after you are on with them.

You all give great opinions of Maverick, Can anyone of you that work for them tell me what exactly is included in their trucks, such as a fridg., cb radio, or anything else that might be available to their drivers?
-
No problem.....
We all get side tracked. LOL I thought I was in the political thread for awhile.
NukedNative Thanks this. -
Exactly how hard is the driving test for a recent trucking school grad? Do any of the Mav drivers posting here do the per diem? How does that work for you? How are the miles right now? Quick responses will be helpful. lol

i heard that when you get home time at maverick it is nothing more than a 34hr reset is this true and how often do ya run near Blytheville AR on Interstate 55
-
Well I got home late thursday night/ early friday morning and del at 10 am on monday, so I reckon you must have heard wrong...
It actually all depends on the load. Sometimes I get 2-3 days home, sometimes I just get 34. I run a lot of steel out of there off of 18. It usually goes to MI or New Orleans. That should be a good area for you.

I do use the per diem, but it is the only co that I have done this with. The other co's I did not like the way they did it. If he is brand new it should not be as bad. He will go out with a trainer and can fine tune his skills. The driving test is not the only concern tho. He will also have to do the yard skills test. He will need to get through the ability test as well. Maverick is not a easy company to get on with. They are very selective in who they want to hire. The miles will vary. You have good weeks and bad weeks. I run thru IN a lot. In fact I am from there. I just don't live there anymore. What part are you all from?
-
You will need to furnish what ever you want. They have CB antennas, but that is it. They come with Eaton Vorad, Lane departure warning and traction control, and wabco tire pressure monitoring system.
-
Either hear it on the CB or radio or roll up on it and say oh crap now what?
We get updates on the Q comm sometimes telling us, but not that often. That is called trucking 101. Better get used to it. You will be dealing with it. We all do. It is part of trucking.

Notarps, Can you explain what the yard skills test is? I leave tomorrow for orientation.
