You'll do fine...just listen, learn, participate, be honest, and try. -
ridgerunner,
Believe me buddy I'm going in with nothing as far as expirience so it's all new for me to learn. I really really want this new challenge in life. I have always loved big trucks since I was a kid. And when I got to ride back in 2001 with brother in law was some of the best time I remember. Learned a lot from him as far as life on road! But will need some true friend so I hope maybe I could call you for advice sometime once out there! -
Ridgerunner,
Guess you are home for weekend. Where in eastern TN you live? When did you get home? Are you a trainer? -
ridge runner not to change the subject but where you at in e. Tenn.

You can call me anytime you need help, but Maverick will give you a 24/7/365 phone number that WILL be answered by one of the instructors.
Also...any Maverick driver out there will more than likely be willing to help you if one is around. I'll help anybody that needs it, Maverick or not...thats part of what it means to be a Maverick. -

LOL...
No, I didn't get home this weekend. I am in Tennessee, but I'm on the wrong end to be home. I live in the Tri-cities area (Bristol, Kingsport, Johnson City)....waaaay out in the sticks. (man, I love it there)
I don't press them for hometime...as long as I get home when I ask for it I'm satisfied. I've been home quite a bit lately because my wife has had me doing some "home improvement projects"...but those are all done now, so I'm back to staying out about 4 weeks at a time before I request home time.
That don't mean I'll be out that long...just that it'll be that long before I ask for it. The CSR's dictate home time, and my FM knows I don't mind staying out (I really do enjoy my job). So I "figure" that me staying out helps the CSR's and FM's get some other driver home more often than not...not sure if it really works that way or not, but it sounds good anyway...LOL.
No...I'm not a trainer, Schneider aggravated me to death wanting me to train, Maverick hasn't asked me but the answer would be the same...NO Thank you.
This truck isn't big enough for 2 people...not when one of them is me. I'm happy to help anytime, but I don't have the patience to be with somebody 24/7 ...one of us would turn up missing and they'd never find the body.
I admire and respect the guys that do train...but I just don't have it in me.Last edited: Jul 24, 2010

No I wasn't let go. I quit. Before you even say it I had no problem with the securement procedures.
I have this thing with being taken advantage of. You and others can chose to be led like a bull with a ring threw their nose but I for one don't need to be bentover more then once to see the reality of a situation.
As soon as one walks thru the door at orientation the assimilation process begins. You are turned into one of Steve Williams programmed Mav-Bots.
You don't drive that truck a Mav-bot does hoping all quarter long to get that glorious fuel bonus. Not once taking into consideration the money your losing by averaging 45 miles an hour rather than 55-60. Not being able to idle for air conditioning or heat without having to make it up by driving slower while your FM, Ed, & Steve go home to they're nice cool homes. Sitting on the side of the road with one of those super-singles blown out because you can no longer limp down to the truckstop. Or listening to Ed tell you how Mav will give you per-diem and figure out those pesky taxes for you. All because they care about you. But not taking into account the money you lost and they gained in Social Security, Unemployment, Workers Comp and loan qualifications.
Those are just the tip of the iceburg of the crap that is force fed the newbies.
The chosen few you speak of are the one's that are successfully programmed without flashbacks
So you just keep believing I don't know much.
Your the one living in denial.
Like I said I'm done with this thread. I'll see you on the road and wave when I pass youTHD Thanks this.
