Curious about this "line 5" thing...there has to be a way to show "off duty driving" or at least there should be a way because we often have to do it (trips to Walmart, doctor visits, trips to the car wash to use their vacuum cleaner, or whatever).
If you can't show it as off duty...then its gonna show as driving after hours, screw up a lot of 34 hour restarts, and just be a general pain in the #####.

I was told DO NOT drive when on break. Realistically if you drive less than 5minutes you can log it off duty. Mav's policy last I heard was no "personal" driving of tractor so thats most likely why no line 5.
-
Its hard not to do a little "off duty" driving when you're in the truck 4-8 weeks at a time
I never go far, and not very often...but when I need something on a weekend...I go get it. (my OOR is at 3%...so its not like I'm going far)
I don't think thats the kind of "personal driving" maverick had in mind with that rule ...even DOT regs have a provision for it. -
What if you log yourself out of the system? I'm talking elog of course. This is also line 5 stuff that is used to get you home when you are pushing the clock. Not that I've ever seen someone do this or even mention it, not endorsing this either

Thanks for the info Dan.

well...got my app sent in yesterday got the call this afternoon....starting my background checks and calling my past employers.....with regional runs pulling there flatbeds...do you drivers go to the same places alot?....thx
-
if you log yourself out and your truck was not in the shop it will still give you your on duty and driving time even if you say no. Believe me I tried. Me and Brett had a little discussion about that I lost the argument. No personal use of maverick trucks is the company's policy on logging. The only drivers that can are owner operators not lease operators. I have a friend that's an owner operator at maverick and he had a talk with them about it and he can logout for personal use. But lease operators since maverick owns the truck they have to go under the same policies as a company driver as far as logging.

Hope everything goes well for you. You do hit a lot of the same places a lot but you'll have a lot of new ones. The only thing consistent at maverick is the inconsistency. Your running one area for a while, then your over in another area that the best thing about it you'll never get bored in one spot.bjb2448 Thanks this. -
Um whoever told you lease operators couldnt use ut for personal use lied to you or didnt know what they are talking about. Its specifically in our contracts that WE have full control over what we do with the truck. I can take it to another company if I wush because since I pay the bills I,under leasing laws, have full control what and where the truck does or goes. I can park the darn thing in my yard if I want so long as I make the payment.

So are you saying that you could take the truck that you are leasing and go drive it under another companies authority as long as you keep making the payments to Maverick?
