I was wondering, I have my class b with air brakes. When I go to Newport for school will I have to take the General knowledge and air brake tests over again?

I think it's part of the general requirements for your Class A permit. But if you already have done it, then it will be even easier for you.
The permit test is the easiet. The driving test isn't that bad either. The hard part for me was the backing. I got my CDL in MO as well..... In Macon. But I went to School in St. Charles.

I was told at McElroy to do a 90 degree with a split axle, but tell you before you do it that you shouldn't actually do it. Is this required at Maverick when they test you? Serpentine?
-
I hope not thats the only thing I'm worried about in the skills test.
-
Serpentine that is.
-
Never did a serpentine. Don't really want to and so far I have backed a truck fine without the needing to know how to do that. I heard it was easy as pie, some said it was a pain. I was just concerned cause McElroy said you have to do this manuver in order to pass including the 90 degree jack-knife. He said it was part of learning how to drive a split axle.
"But don't actually do this cause you'll destroy the tires."
So I asked "Why are we doing this?"
He said, "Cause you need to know how to do it."
I said, with respect mind you. "But you said not to do it."
"I know."
"So why are we doing it?"
"Cause you need to know how to do it?"
"But you said not to?"
"I know. Is that a problem?"
"No, just checking"
That place is like a cult, but anyway, I was wondering if Maverick required those manuvers too. -
i did not have to that when i took my driving test with them. but i have heard frivers talk about screwy back going to a shipper

I have read this entire thread and I want to say Thanks to all of you for your valuable info.
I recently retired from the Army as was interested in the truking industry. After considering several companies, including JB, Werner and TMC, I found Maverick and became interested. I have heard nothing but good things, based on your comments. I contacted a recruiter and received a callback within three hours. Application was sent so not I'm playing the waiting game. Hope to hear something soon. The recruiter mentioned the US-Atlantic Region, based on my location (NC). Does anyone know the boundaries of this region (how far north or south)? Thanks in advance.

Do you have youre class a or do u have to go to the school?

Hi folks, here is my question on Maverick, How lenient are they with their hiring area?
I live in NY but within 5 or 6 miles of a major highway through the northeast.
I'd like to apply but I don't want to waste anyone's time if they are going to look at my zip code and tell me to take off.
Thanks for your time.
