If you read my thread on "have to start somewhere" it will tell you what I went through and give you an idea of what to expect it is in the questions from new drivers section.Maverick will bring you to little rock for 2 days before you go to Newport you will take a physical again. I already had my dot card and they made me take another one even though it was only three weeks old.Make sure you have all your paperwork especially if you are on any medications or under a physic ans care.I saw more people get sent home because of improper documentation then any other single thing. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me I have an air-card for my laptop so when I am on the road I dint check in with this site as often as I do when I am at home but I usually peek in once or twice when I have time.Later and good luck:iroc:

Still investigating companies and whatnot. The otr bug is twitching again and reading these threads about maverick is encouraging. What is it like backing with a split axle? I was only at McElroy for 2 or 3 weeks before a family emergency caused me to bail so I didn't get the full experience. Holla back.

I was used to a box or tanker. A empty spread is not bad, but takes awhile to get used to it loaded. I can pretty much put it in almost everytime now, but sometimes I have to re-group and try it again.:biggrin_25524:

I take it that all though I have experience driving, there will be a training on driving one of those?

If you been off the road awhile you will probably go out with a trainer for a week up to 6 weeks. I think I was with a trainer a couple days. Less than a week.

I am still trying to decipher the last few messages. How long is the waiting (if any) for a CDL holding driver? anyone know? I am hoping to get started at the end of the month (November).

I would say not long. You live in a good area for them.
