Maverick wants me to go out with a trainer... :biggrin_2559: 13 years and they wanna put me with someone who likely has less experience. they want 6mo otr in the last three years. My last job of 6.5 years I did som local and some otr. I was strickly otr from January 1st till I quit in the end of august but apparently my driver file technically has me listed as "local" driver and since it's comany policy to not comment on anything but to varify employment date and job description I all of a sudden have no otr experience that is less then 3 years old

Well I got that mess squared away. I had to call my past employer and get them t straighten it out. So now I have been asked when I want to come to orientation. Of course she then tells me they only hire the 48 state fleetout of TX. not really what I wanted but I may take it. I still havn't decided between them and Arnold. The bus schedual to little rock sucks. either leave here at noon and get there at like 2am or leave here an midnight and get there at 10am..
Maverick helps with money up front a bit so I may go with them as I'm kinda broke to live n the road untill I get a check. Plus I have to pay 100 a week to put my son in daycare once I start a new job.
Speaking of pay. They tell me you get $50 cash when you get there. and $500 for the orientation but sounded like I wouldn't get the $500 check untill after the second week. Do they withold that $500 check for a week or do you get it on friday after you finish orientation.
Also orientation is 4 days and then 5 days of securment training. Do they run them 9 days in a row or do they make you take a weekend off? I'd like to just get it done and get working.
I'm a little worried about the fitness. I'm plenty strong but I'm a heavy guy and I have been off work on my butt for two months

There was another thread that someone posted about Maverick's orientation. I belive he stated that orientation was Sunday thru Thurs., on Fri. they moved to Ft. Smith for securement training. They had Sat. off, then trained Sunday thru Wed.

Payday is Fridays, so I'd imagine the 1st check won't be seen till the Fri. of week 2.

that's what I' figuring. Personally I'd rather go 9 days straight and get it done. Not like anyone is near home having anything to do on a day off.

They did tell me you can take up to a $200 advance on your first check though which is why they have the lead right now in my decision between them and arnold

Maverick one of the best to work for from what I heard. The prob I have is that when u take your truck home that u obviously will have your trailer too. I don't have the room for that.

Guess u never really drop n' hook with flatbeds.

Gonna try TransAm, one block away from my house

I believe they will let you park it at a truck stop or anyplce you can fit it with permissin from the owner. You can drop the trailer and bobtail home if you have a king pin lock for the trailer. At least that's what I heard at another web site.
    I have 13 acres so I don't have a problem with parking.

Yeah, you can drop the trailer if you have an Ok from property owner and you pin lock it. You just have to clear it with Maverick.

I've got the room for the whole rig but have to do some extra turns to get it in. So I've got a parking place for the trailer at a local diner and plenty of easy room for the tractor.
