Max PSP points acceptable?

So what is this then ?? It’s got me puzzled

That is some company thing that the company is assigning. Has nothing to do with PSP even if they claim otherwise. Here is what a real (example) PSP report direct from fmcsa looks like.

Well I understand and thank you for your reply. I just know this is what Magnum sent me along with the psp report. Which company is it that you are talking about that doesn’t look at the psp. I may need to apply because of all of the refusals I am getting. My choices are getting less and less.

 

I dont think you are trolling so I will answer you.

Lets say you get stopped. Officer sees you are drowsy you get charged 30 PSP points for fatigued driving. 10 come off in 8 months. 10 more drop off in 8 more months. Points are gone in 2 years. Record of the incident stays for 3 years.

If a company pulls your report they will see the violation. Its also on DAC.

Heres the tricky part: even though you 'caused' the points they are not on your record. They are not on your license or affect your license. They go against your carriers CSA score which is basically a sum of all PSPs caused by drivers.

The lower the number the better the score and the less the carrier is subject to higher insurance rates, being pulled into scales, being pulled over period, etc...

A driver that causes a lot of points is not liked by companies because it draws attention to the company and increases their CSA score (which like I said above is bad). SO basically if you cause points (or cause a lot of them) companies will not hire you.

I would say 50 or so points caused is enough for you to be disqualified. The number of applicants out there is enormous and right now basically companies have their choice of who they will or want to hire.

There should be a database or list of points issued per violation somewhere on the Net. I do know the highest points given per violation is 30. Also per stop I think the highest you can get is 90.

My total CSA Score as or 9/22 is 56 points. If you click the link you can see it. Also, although I didn’t really want to apply I just got accepted to Western Express and will have to try to stay ticket/ incident free till I am able to find something more to my liking. Idk I might like it. We’ll see. 17 yr vet and first time I’ve fallen into this grey area. Thanks guys for your input

Let me clarify about moving violations. Moving violation is you going through a stop sign, speeding, improper lane, etc....You get three of those and basically you are not hireable by anyone. Some companies have 2 as a limit.

Moving violation is a violation plus they give you PSP points. 15 MPH or more, speeding in a construction zone, something like that you are done. Look for another career ASAP.

People coming off the boat or plane everyday I see them in Chicago. Clinic is packed every morning at 9am. Guess what companies can choose who they want and treat them how they want. Sad the way things have become but it is what it is...
