So I have been talking to a buddy who has been a mechanic at freightliner for 10+ yrs about the maxforce engine. He tells me that after deleting the emissions, the motors are good to go. I am looking to buy my 1st truck soon and the great deals I see on the 2012-2013 prostars keep catching my eye.
So for a guy looking for their 1st truck should I give it a shot or pick up a freightshaker with a detroit?

yes,that's what I heard too!

Well, you'll never be able to sell it after delete and you'll be screwed if caught.
-
Unlikely to be caught; thousands of them running the roads. Don't sell or trade it; put a million miles on it then park it beside the house and use it for a man cave. Watch ball games and drink beer and scan the Playboy magazines.Last edited: Nov 25, 2017
Broke Down 69, KB3MMX and Bakerman Thank this. -
Yeah lol!!
I think they're made my MAN diesel for international weren't they?
That's a very very good engine mfg generally speaking... as usual all the emissions junk is what kills modern motorsChinatown Thanks this. -
So if you could pick up a 2013 for $15k with 500k and get the delete, you "should" have a reliable engine after? Heck I'm just looking for it to make it a year and after that I may upgrade. I know small things will come up and need replaced, but my concern is the heart of the truck lol.

Another “Maxxforce” thread. How many does that make it now, 1001 or more ?

Broke Down 69 Thanks this. -
Just so you know, "emissions modification" is a sore subject on TTR.MACK E-6 Thanks this.

Maxxforce is the worse engine ever made, have you seen some of the lawsuits. Tennessee jury awarded a trucking company 30.8 million dollars.
Crude Truckin' Thanks this. -
The core engine is actually great. 99% of the problems are emissions related. I don't recommend deletes, they are illegal. Low to no enforcement today doesn't make it legal or mean they won't crack down one day. Dealers are not allowed to touch them. So once you alter one, you better have a plan in place in case you need service. Like mentioned, you are also stuck with it, you could never sell it.
Crude Truckin' and muthertrucker210 Thank this.
