So if you start the truck , you have to leave it running for 5 minutes or it won't restart ?

Only if your batteries do not have any charge left in them. The ESM takes 5 minutes to recharge, and it does so from the batteries. But that 5 minute thing is only if the ESM got totally emptied by the last startup. If you only needed a quick turnover to start the vehicle, there would still be some reserve left in the ESM. It has a 5 second turnover capacity.

If one stays with the standard setup. I have room for 5 group 31 batteries (have 4 installed) and the inverter/charger I have now (same size as a group 31 battery) in my present battery box. I would seriously opt to just install the ESM, if I got it, in the space left now that would be room enough. That would be a killer setup, come to think about it..... a ESM, 4 deep cycle batteries, and a Xantrex sealed weather proof inverter / charger.... all in the same battery box. No additional space needed and no loss of reserve load.

    Thank you.

I cancelled my backordered one from Class8truckparts.com and reordered from Truck Country in Davenport, IA who also has it on backorder for $747 plus tax and shipping cost. It seems this is a very popular item that nobody can keep on the shelves.

Also found a battery tray in the junk yard for $100 to add another bank of batteries on the passenger side of my truck to install the ESM with 7 deep cycle AGM batteries. Looking for them now and I hope to get everything done by next summers cooling season for the sleeper A/C.

Any suggestions on AGM deep cycle group 31s with either 7 group 31 AGMs or maybe go with a big 8D AGM battery and 3 Group 31 AGMs?

Probably best to stick with group 31s. I don't see 8D's being cost effective. Or back effective.

The question is which group 31s? Those duracells from sams club seem like a great deal (repackaged dekas). For the record I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing you are. Only problem is I'd have to unseize my 5th wheel and slide it back, I'm already a wee bit over on the drives.

Don't you get an extra 300 lbs for an APU including electric ones?

Thanks for that tip, Allan. Deka makes some pretty good batteries. Didn't know the Duracells were of that make. Cool. Now y'all have me thinking about doing some mods to increase my batteries above the 4 along with the ESM. Gee, thanks, guys! Ought to back charge the project to y'all. LOL

Yes but you still can't go over tire ratings.

Anywhere besides Sam's Club or any other membership warehouse to get a good deal on 7 AGM deep cycle Group 31 batteries?
