It really depends on the truck. Volvos run all the positives off the big positive on the starter. That requires isolating every wire to a separate positive. My truck (Kenworth t800) has all the positives going to the batteries. Installation is nothing more than moving a bunch of wires around.

Same problem trying to find shop or mechanic with any idea how to install. Seems that even with installation instructions they don't understand. Now that weather is getting nicer I'll end up doing it myself. Would rather pay a shop and let them deal with making new cables as necessary since they have tools for that, but if I do it I'll do it right.

    Hi gregbo,

I agree, unfortunately most mechanics do not want to read instructions; they just want to say a Hail Mary and stick it in (like fishing with Fredo). We travel the US and Canada training fleets / dealerships on the technology, installation and troubleshooting, but that is an ongoing endeavor. Our web site is pretty comprehensive and we have the PDF documentation / webinars for all to see (plus I'm on the forums to answer questions as well). Once they wrap their head around the one-wire to the Starter + and bridging the remaining leads back to the Batt + they get it. 99% of the issues surrounding the ESM are install related.

I've asked our marketing department to come up with a quick install sheet; similar to the ones you see when you purchase a new printer. Just quick pictures, no words, step 1,2,3 etc. on an 8.5 x 11 sheet.

I will contact Truck Country in Davenport to see what their needs are. I'm sorry you had such a hellish dealer experience~~~

Thanks for the reply, glad to see you're keeping up with our conversation. By the way, with the weather warming up my Maxwell is really starting to pay off. I've reduced idle hours significantly and no more worries about starting the truck if I fall asleep with the TV on.

McCoy Freightliner in Portland, OR had them behind the counter, on the shelf for $800. And Oregon is a no sales tax state.

What's the "new" price point supposed to be?

I'm not in sales so it wouldn't be my place to say; and each dealer/distributor has it's own pricing structure. I can say that $800 is the lowest $ I've heard of.

    Well that sucks!
Why would they be getting more expensive? Products are supposed to decrease in price over time!
