I apologize for not getting back with you guys sooner, but yes, after changing the fuel pump out, no more issues with low power. That was definitely the problem, and from my experience now with other trucks doing the same thing, in most cases when cycling the key off and on temporarily gives you power again, your problem is your fuel pump is weakening and you need to get it replaced.
Thank you, we replaced our fuel pump as well, truck runs good with good power but now it keeps dying at least every 10 miles, you might have an idea why??
My truck just started doing this yesterday. I pulled into loves to have the codes read and I have a fan code for open/load circuit, and a csfi or high power side circuit fault. When I turn my key on and off I do regain power. But mine can last hours without it losing power. When it does I just restart the truck. But I have no fuel pump codes. Did you have your pressures tested?
Also I'm at 652k miles ran hard for over 100k with no issues except for oil separator. Its been good to me, but I can't take it to International bc it's deleted.
Your problem will be very hard troubleshoot because you are at the point where it is just starting to cause a problem, but not severe enough for a code to become logged. Right now you can guess at almost anything.
Well I guess I'll fix the fan, and keep trucking till it gets more serious and a code pops up or it actually breaks. I'll update you if it gets fixed or pops a code. Thanks
Update: fuel pump just died completely. It's grinding and all kinds of noises. Made it to a loves outside okc. Gonna look for a shop
@Heavyd the mechanic is being adamant that I replace all the injectors with the pump. I asked him if he would do an injector test and he got mad and said that he doesn't wanna argue and if I wanna half ### it take it somewhere else. I don't disagree with him I don't want to half-### it, but I don't want to kill myself with 5000 in parts plus labor to install said parts. I just thought before replacing all the injectors we should have them tested. Thoughts?
Truck losing power not sure how you concluded that it was electrical unless your truck engine has spark plugs? Or by electrical do you mean the computer or alternator, the computer could possibly cause an issue I suppose. These days most mechanics will hook up the diagnostics via lap top to check faults, it is possible that it will be the either the turbo, fuel pump or the injectors. which all impact on a trucks power train, depending on the kind of hours that engine has run, the way the previous owner looked after it will determine the condition of both the injectors, and the fuel pump and even the turbo, will be very interested to see what the problem will eventually turn out to be, however by the looks of it your up for another big bill. Also try getting a second opinion on the issue it won't hurt and just see it they all come up with the same problem.
