Hey what’s up everyone! My 2013 ProStar with Maxxforce 13 bucks and goes into limp mode when the boost kicks in. I’m getting 88psi at idle and the actual rail psi is very slightly trailing behind the commanded. Do y’all think it’s a fuel pump issue? Or maybe air getting in? It starts and hold a prime just fine tho. The pump only has 50k miles on it.. Also has code SPN 2798 FMI 11
I also PM you. Always look into the codes. The code you are logging is a shorted injector on 4, 5 or 6. ECM cannot pinpoint which one. Usually it is an injector. The fault may only happen when hot. Injector coil resistance is spec'd at 0.2 - 0.8 ohms. Injector coil leads should be open to ground.
I know it is expensive, but if you plan to keep the truck I recommend replacing all 6 injectors. I never liked the idea of 5 old weak injectors running with a new fresh one and the engine trying to balance itself. The harness would also be a great idea.
I wanted to update for anyone that may have this issue in the future. They’ve found rubbed thru wires on the injector harness. It was rubbing on the Jake brake housing. I will be picking up the truck on Monday. And Heavy D thank you again!!
Glad they got it figured out for you. Bucking seems to be the symptom of injectors, or most folks point to that anyway. Something relating to injectors at the least.
