    Congratulations Cam.
I am hoping to get a call from May when I finish my training. We are in week 6 now and will start doing the longer road trips for training. We just finished rural driving and country roads last week. It was good and it helped us judge our speeds coming into corners and worked on our down-shifting skills. It's a 15 week course, but if you have a pre-hire letter from a company they will test you out at week 9 and if you pass, then off you go.
Take care and good luck with May, hoping I see you soon. :biggrin_25525:

Wow idfive, that's a long time in training, my training was four weeks. In my class there was only two of us, we had three weeks eight hours a day of seat time that we split evenly. I've been out of training for nearly a month, but I called the school they are giving me one day this week to drive, just as a refresher before orientation.
Thanks for the congrats, I hope you can get on with May and I hope to meet you.
Keep us updated, I'd be interested to see how it goes for you.

Cam, there are 8 of us in this class. It is a great school (College of Western Idaho, Professional Truck Driving School) We go 10 hours a day Mon - Thurs for 9 weeks and if you have a trucking company that will hire you they let you test out and consider the next 6 weeks a type a OJT program with that company. They assure us we will get a minimum of 44 hours behind the wheel before the 9 week mark. There are 4 to a truck and we rotate out every 1 or 2 hours depending on the length of the trip that day. The instructors are great and very patient with us. Can't wait to get this ball rolling and get out there and learn even more of the real world of trucking from my trainer.
Take care and be safe out there, I will try and keep you posted on how things are going. :biggrin_25514:

Never drove for May but I know the Chalet - great food but that place had some weird hours sometimes - congrats on your new employer - you could do a whole lot worse than May!

I thought their main terminal was in Payette, ID? Used to pass it all the time heading NB on 95...(I think...)

Thank you ProPilot, I've heard the horror stories about some of these training companies. I think May is a good company, I can tell by the comments their drivers leave, most all of them are positive.

As far as the main terminal, I thought it was Brooks, OR. but you might be right, someone else on here could probably answer that.
