You'll love that 13 spd when you get the hang of it.
That's one of the things I really miss about the Pete I had at May,much nicer than the 10 spd I drive now when you get in the hills.

Have to agree with Y2K on this.. 13 speed is the way to go.....
Cudascious Thanks this. -
Thanks! We will probably meet up Cam, have some coffee.
I have heard from just about everyone that the 13 or 18 speed is the best. The only difference I can tell between the Eaton 10 and 13 is the overdrive which is button activated. My problem was downshifting in the lower range on both. Just a matter of synchronizing, luckily I have a few more drives. I am going to be driving the 13 speed exclusively to prepare for May.
Y2K I have been following your threads, I didnt see where you changed jobs, I made it to the part where you clipped the tractor and May was forgiving about it. I'll have to read more. I have literally read for hours on here, its great. I read another thread where the guy started with a trucking co. I cant remember now, and was thrilled, then it turned bad after 2 preventables and his attitude generally went downhill throughout. It was quite the story. lol
I am already planning to find small truckstops and keep notes on where to sleep for the night/day. I want to avoid big truck stops like the plague. Lifes too short, I want to enjoy trucking and hopefully it will be a fun adventure. Plus I have a family and am tired of go nowhere jobs. So I am excited and cautious, and will have to find a way to prevent the road from grinding my soul away. lol -
i believe Y2K switched to "the Great Pumpkin".

lol, I take it that is Schneider? I was looking at them too.

It's really hard work as it's all hand unload.
Every box in the truck goes on rollers by hand usually 2 or 3 stops per load so I work my arse off but I get home every weekend.
Sometimes I also get to take my 10hr break at home during the week so the home time is great.
I'm doing Dollar Tree stores from the regional dist center in Ridgefield,WA in 4 states OR,WA,ID,MT.
The Dist center is just 27 minutes from my home and I haul on average 3 loads a week out of there.
It's my home terminal too so I park my personal vehicle there as well as the truck when I go home.
Schneider has an office right inside the Dollar Tree Dist center where my dispatchers work so it's the center of my work world.
I'm at home now and have been since Friday just after noon,I'll head out tomorrow (Sunday) about noon for Ontario,Oregon and spend the night at the store then make my delivery at 05:00.
After that I'll head back with drops in Baker City and Hermiston, with a little luck I should make it back to the Dist center Monday and take my 10hr break at home Monday night.
I took the job based on the home time and so far it's been great but I do get pretty sore and tired from all the lifting.
The pay has been pretty good, doing a little better than I was at May,no down time really they keep me pretty busy.
It's a trade off though, much harder work and not as nice a truck but so far it's been on the plus side for me.
I have no complaints with May,they were great but I'm just not cut out for being away from home as much as I was there.Cudascious Thanks this. -
Thats cool Y2K, thanks for explaining, glad thats working for you. I think a clean Shneider truck looks good. I was reading an article in a magazine about a veteran that must have acquired his truck through their o/o program, not sure, but it was orange had a huge sleeper and a cool, American flag mural on the sleeper. But I thought, cool.

Good luck at Big "O" Y2K.......sounds good so far

Thanks guys,it's nice to be sit'n here at home by the wood stove with a cup of coffee get'n ready to go to work rather than being at a Loves or Pilot needing to get up and go inside to take a pee and get some coffee lol.
See y'all out there.
Doo Doo Doo Look'n out my back door........

Nice picture, looks like Washington or Oregon. I'm already making plans to avoid large truckstops if possible.
