Obviously thinking of CR England last from all the negative things I have heard.
Graduated with my CDL 8 months ago and have yet to start. Live on the West Coast.
Not sure who I can start with at this point. Don't have the money for a refresher.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations.
May, CR Eng, or Western Exp.?

There are way better companys than the 3 you listed out there. Do some research. Use the search feature and im sure youll find some helpfiul info on some good starter companies. May might not be bad but id stay far away from the other 2.
austinmike, Puppage and Toomanybikes Thank this. -
Ok thanks, well most won't take me because I'm past that 90 day mark. Even Werner won't.
Got a clear record. So no problems with driving.Last edited: Feb 25, 2016

If you picked these companies because your record sucks then imo the pecking order is may 1st choice, then cr england, then western.

Parked at the flying j exit 323 i81 in Virginia last night I watched CR England take out a parked trucks head light making a turn. This morning I was almost taken out by a Western express trying to enter the highway from a rest area in PA on 81. Trucks in left lane and me in right lane. Dude would not stop causing me and ones behind me to stop to prevent him from side swiping me. If your a good driver look some where else.
Rocknroller4 and sliver Thank this. -
Try companies that offer refresher programs.Rocknroller4 Thanks this.

if your driving records clean id just start researching and calling im sure you can do much better. Persistence will pay off. What part of the west are you from?

Try Freymiller.
Of those 3 you listed, I'd go with Western Express; van runs western states and flatbed runs 48 states. Keep it in perspective; it's not a lifetime commitment; do the refresher obligations then bail for what you really want.
There's also:
Transport America

Western Express is forced dispatch, ie you have no say in what loads you get. You will get a older abused 10 speed for your first truck. Trucks governed at 62.
CR England Has nicer equipment than Western hands down. After all the training they will try to get you into a fleet lease deal. 3 years of weekly payments, must drive at least 500 miles daily to stay ahead of costs. 13 speed Cascadias, trucks governed at 68.
May unknown, havent worked for them yet.
You might want to give Schneiders or even Prime a call. They tend to treat their drivers betterRocknroller4 Thanks this. -
Did you lease or stay company with CR England?. Any insight into the company side?.
