I am not saying their may be drivers not getting the miles they want, but My husband and I run team with shaffer and some weeks are lower then we would like but we are on average getting 16000-20000 month. We also never have a problem getting home, we request when we want to be home , they get us there. We also are always planned before we deliver. Maybe it is the dispatchers I do not know but we are pretty satisfied with Shaffer.
may day with shaffer

I'm glad to hear some are doing good at Shaffer. We just couldn't survive on the miles he was getting. He was always stuck on the east coast and surviving on $500.00 a week is impossible. The dispatcher he had a lot of the time wouldn't respond for 5 - 6 hours at a time. He sat on the east coast sometimes for 3 - 4 days with no loads. At that point you should be home with your family and not in a truck being able to only move 15 miles to obtain groceries and things you might need. Then to be told not to idle in freezing temperatures is crazy. It seemed when the owners sons started to take over, it got worse. Time to move on at that point.

I have updated my sheet. It is about 99% done for 2009. I have several trips missing for middle of December. I left them at home by mistake. I should be able to complete them on my next hometime in mid January. I will be starting my 2010 sheet shortly. When I do, I will post a link to it.
Thanks to everyone who has participated in this thread so far. I've been enjoying the conversation and experiences. I'm sorry I haven't participated more. Just been having probs w/net connections and stuff.
I hope you had a great Christmas/Holiday and I wish you the best for the New Year.Baack Thanks this. -

My DH was hired on at Shaffer and just got his first load today. I am going to try to do a spread sheet like you are doing TruckerLlew or hubby can do it. (LOL) He is an experienced driver, so far, everything seems great! (the real test will be the paychecks though)

I got my app in and I live in southern NH,It sounds better than where I'm at now (JB). Most of the posts here put down the northeast and I'm just wondering if anyone has any personal experience please. The recruiter (and I know their word doesn't mean much) said mileage varied but if I like to work they'll keep me busy.
Thanks and God Bless

Northeast left my husband sitting A LOT. He loves to drive and that was not the case at Shaffer. He sat sometimes 1 - 3 days waiting for a load out of the NE. He sat a lot of weekends over there too. The paychecks got less and less. Can't live and raise a family on what he was making there. His leaving there was the best thing he could have done. He tried to go regional and they said sure, never happened though.
grunntly Thanks this. -
Biggest problem with Crete now is they are sending regional drivers on national runs. without paying any extra pay, and keeping national drivers running short runs.
-
So what is the difference between Shaffer & Crete? Aren't they the same, or is the management different? Just trying to find the better of the two? Looking at getting on with Crete. Thanks and be safe out there!
