This is why you should always do a pre-trip and post-trip.

I always took a pic of the trailer serial number and any damage to the trailer. I would then send it via QC as to what the damage is.

Found one trailer with 5 of the support ribs broken. Amazing how it passed the prior drivers Pre/Post trip.

They actually loaded it too. I refused to hook up to it and take it back accross the street till Safety cleared me of any damage that may accure in moving it. I met the Consignee safety officer and he looked at it also. They had to put another forklift under the middle of the trailer to unload it.

What's the rest of your history, do you have a number of late deliveries, other preventable accidents/incidents? With turnover being a real concern for companies all of these things play a factor in a companies decision to terminate your employment. What I would suggest is to not admit guilt, but take a path of as a new drivers my behaviors were not where they should be. Carefully think over your situation, not just this incident but any other issues that you may have and talk about what you can do to change your behaviors. Show that you are willing to make an effort and that you have put a great deal of thought into how to make the improvements needed to make yourself and the company successful.

File for unemployment, you will not get it, but it will start a paper trail and then they will either put you back to work or not. Move on, apply for another job. things happen, you made a mistake or not, and put it in the past. This time of year many construction companies are hiring truck drivers. good luck. If Roehl doesn't want you, someone else will.

YES, you will have problems, you have had an accident, whether you did it or not, you failed to do a proper pre-trip and make note of it then, even up to the point where you could have called it in as well.

How pray-tell will a lawyer help him in getting fired, as it is now his word/thier word?? Please explain that, if you have the time, which I highly doubt you can explain.

Well they may not be over, but IT WILL BE listed on your DAC report as an accident (at fault), that went unreported, and that you will NOT BE rehire-able.

    EXACTLY.

Typical newbie/rookie mistake of NOT DOING a proper pre-trip, and making a call as well as writing it up.

Mid-trips are also important, never know what happens while you are driving. I would apply to one of the mega's and restart your work history.

So why did'nt you notice this damage when you did your pretrip and especially if it's that's noticable? What damage is on the trl?I think you're pretty much fired. It's never good news when a company sends you home.Your choices are limited.Go with another starter company, that is if they'll hire you.

I agree.I highly doubt a lawyer would even take his case.It is'nt even worth the time to find out.
