Wow is really that bad? I can't imagine what a trucking company puts up with. That goes without saying what the drivers must have to deal with. Between 4 wheelers, bad truck drivers and low pay it sounds like it just sucks out there. I respect you guys for putting up with all that. I sure the H wouldn't but then I'm old and don't have much patience anymore for BS. Prolly take one look at me and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
May get fired - Need advice please.

From previous posts, it seems as though many companies, including Roehl, are forgiving. Maybe? -
They're forgiving if you're honest - but basically they think I'm lying about an accident
$10 grand is a lot -
The guy was a #### that's probably why I got defensive. Gave me a 2 1/2 hour windown to call him back Fri - didn't hear me out trying to explain myself. Made a comment "When's the last time anyone from Roehl heard from you"
My FM was the one telling me it could be 2 weeks before I heard anything and I shouldn't sit around waiting for the call if I have bills to pay. This guy called me less than a week.

Yeah but driver.... listen to what your saying......"you didn't see 10 grand worth of damage" ........ do you realize what that is on a freight van? You can still buy a new el strippo van for the low 20's.
Point being " you didn't see it". Mind you I despise truck management and I have less than zero use for the whole pack of them but they have a point here....
Imagine that this is your equipment and that "####" is sitting across the table with your story....what would you do?Last edited by a moderator: Jul 28, 2012
DrtyDiesel and Traveler51 Thank this. -
Just saying I was already terminated when I hung up
I got pissed
I lost my job
they think I am either lying or nieve,
I am nieve if I missed 10 grand in damage
In this same thread people were questioning yard dogs causing damage or if the video even exists
I wanted to make a point of questioning the video
thanks for the responses Traveler51 and chalupa -
btw, the guy on the phone said I was termanted for not reporting and accident, my reply - I didn't get in an accident, his reply - we think otherwise. my whole point of being mad was I hope you saw a video and not just talking their word for it. Call me inconsiderate if you want.
Later I got a letter in the mail saying I was termanated for not following policy regarding inspecting and reporting damage, which is a little easier to stomach than someone convinced I'm covering something up.
I'm resonably sure I didn't hit anything; I would've thought I'd have noticed 10 grand in damage when cheking lights and tires on the trailer. But I do have doubts that I'm reponsible/missed something. It would be easier to stomach if I knew what happened for sure. Maybe I could've handled it better but considerateness works both ways, the guy came at me the way he did convinced I am at fault for this whole mess.
My whole point is I hope they saw this video and are not taking someone's word -
GaryG:
I was wondering if you saw the video of the truck reportedly coming onto the yard, where they say you brought the trailer in with the damage on it. Can you see a date and time stamp on the video? Can you clearly see your truck entering the premises pulling the trailer at the time you were on the yard? Can you clearly see your truck and trailer number?
10 Grand is a significant amount of damage. Can you give a good description of the damage? Are you certain you didn't back into something?
In the future it's always a good idea to do a walk around any time you get out of the truck and before getting back in if you left the truck unattended. I think we have all been temped and guilty of skipping a proper pre-trip on a trailer. But after you get blamed for someone else damaging the trailer or burned out tail lights, marker lights, or damaged rim/tire. You learn that it's just not woth the time you save, and you get in the habit of doing it every single time before moving the truck/trailer.
I think if you hurry up and apply for another job you might be able to get one before the info is posted on DAC, Even if it does show up, its not going to be on your MVR report. I think you would do well to be prepared to explain what happened in a truthful and direct way.
Good luck in the future, and remeber honesty is the best policy. Your word is your bond.. -
Thanks for the reply and encouragement.
I don't want anything to come back to bite me if I were to get a job before its reported to my dac
Its been a month since I was fired at this point
The small companies wont consider me for lack of experience (less than a year)
The big companies want to send me out with a trainer - and that's only if my dac comes back ok
I have sent for a copy of my dac and will go from there.
Unemployment ruled in my favor (the applicant's actions were not intentional or negligent, and therefore were not employment misconduct)
No I never saw the video.
One would think it would have to be pretty high quality video to see what they claim..
All I remember being told about the damage was its obviously noticable, seperated at the seams and buckled.
I have always said I'm resonably sure I did not hit anything
And somehow missed 10 grand in damage when checking trailer lights and tires
But nothing is 100 percent
Oh yes I have learned my lesson about vehicle checksLast edited: Jun 22, 2012
