Thanks. That is exactly what I have done. Sitting here at the Loves. I do have a pplan.

Well tomorrow morning will be picking up a Busch load, heading to Laredo. Just enough hours to get there, with a pretrip in the morning and a drop and hook. 310 miles, with a whopping 6.75 hours. I would have thought that they would have told me to take a 34, but what the heck. It is another 310 miles for this week. End up with 3000 miles for next weeks check. Now just hope that I will not get stuck down there in that hole that I read about.

Well at least I will finally start to pick up some hours. Those short runs killed my hours last week.

Be safe everyone and have a great week.

When you get to laredo, you will have to get trailer inspected another .25. You will be ok its the weekend you have to worrie about. I wont t call or drop a load down there if its on the weekend, unless I have preplan out of there, or I just go to lancaster or houston and t call load saying I have no hours. I have been burn one to many times to do other wise.

Luse: Just a heads-up about using hours as a reason to t-call in Lancaster or Houston. Not sure which terminal you are out of, but Troutdale has been coming down on that lately. They say you should know how many hours you have available when you accept the load. If you accept it and later claim to be short on hours, Troutdale has been issuing service failures. I'm not tellin ya what to do, just tellin ya how my guys are dealing with that.

Also, they knew exactly how many hours I had before they even sent me the pplan. Based on 50mph avg, 300 miles was doable. Have to drop in Laredo since the load is going to Mexico anyway. Also I can go past the 70 if on line 4. What I do not understand, is the way that in the load they say PTA after MT. My load info says that available at 0001 on the 30th. That definately is not 10 hours after deliver, and when I send in Mac 10, say my eta and hrs available and then PTA, kicks it back saying that it is more than 12 hours. Oh well, still learning the system here.

Your best bet is to set that PTA for as early as you can. I usually set mine for 15-30 minutes after my ETA. When empty, I set it for roughly 15 minutes later. Especially in low freight areas.

Injun, wish that I could do that, but when I get mt, will not have any hours until after midnight, and with my luck, if I set it for as soon as I arrive, I will get a pplan right then and there, then have to say no because no hours. My new DM is taking good care of me. I really hate bumping the 70 like this, but I am the type, if I have hours then let me run, ie, this short one to Laredo. I probably could have taken a 34 here, but I can think of better places to take one. BTW, heard from a recruitter yesterday, and not John. Have to call back this morning. I will pm you after I talked to them and let you know what she says.

    Hello Everyone,

Sitting in Laredo now. Did have a pplan before I got here, but when arrived and saw the line for trailer inspection, had to decline. It had to be in Texarkana by 8am, Cooper Tire. There was a good chance that I could have made it, with about 1 hour to spare, but did not want to take that chance. One serious traffic backup, and that cushion would be gone. I talked to my DM about it, and she agreed. Better to be able to make sure then accept and then run into a problem. By the time done with inspection and dropping it, it would have been about a 60mph dispatch. It was a drop trailer at Cooper, but it still had an appt. Plus add in the time for fueling and pre-trip in the morning.

Ran into another company driver here, and he was telling me that he heard that Swift has a new nick name because of the L/P's. The Skittle Candy Fleet.

Speaking of L/P, was finally able to talk to a recruitter yesterday, and was told that I as long as my miles are staying where they are, I qualify within 3-4 weeks, which is perfect since the new batch of truck are comming in. She said that they are a little low on inventory, and after hearing what is comming in, I will wait. She told me that there are KW T660 with the 86" studio sleeper, which I here they have there now, KW700 and the Volvo 780. I am holding out for that one. She did say that they are mostly saving them for teams because of the higher payment, but I mentioned to her, with my wife comming here from China, never in a truck before, the 780 is perfect for the two of us. The payment is going to be, if I remember correct, $545. Also with the Volvo, if something ever happens when I am at a terminal, at least I know that they have Volvo parts. This will be the only time that a shop will touch the truck.

The plan now is turning my truck into Columbus because they are short of trucks, and then Phoenix will fly me there. Now just have to make a decision come 3 weeks. Have to take pics of the 3 different ones, send to the wife, see what she says, which I already know the answer. What ever makes me happy, she will adapt.

Take care and stay safe on the road.
