Hey all, who out there knows what the real deal is with May's idle policy. I was told briefly from a recruiter that the driver can idle for a certain amount of time and if they go over that amount of time they have to pay May for the fuel costs?
Any and all info on this subject is greatly appreciated. In addition, for those that currently work for May, is it a "good" starter company to go with? Compared to the other starter companies? How is the equipment? What speed are the trucks governed at? Nice people to work with? Are the drivers respected in the industry? Good maintenance facilities?
I am trying to decide on which starter company to go with. Thanks much all!!

If you go over you send an idle request. If you don't send one you'll get charged sucks but its their policy.
They are one of the better starter companies. 61mph. The equipment is good mostly petes some freightliners 13spd cummins isx

Thanks Joker! Send an idle request? Is there any circumstance where the request can be denied? Like you are in AZ and it's 110 degrees outside at night? Any other info you can share about the company? Thanks.

Also, I was told May plans to idle their trucks down to 58 mph.

As if they aren't hazardous enough already at 61 mph in higher speed states...

They would not deny a request for over idle as you described...

Drivers paying for a companies fuel for trying to sleep/stay warm or stay comfortable?

How about you tell the company "fine, I have no reason to idle your truck if you can keep it moving.......otherwise I am not sitting around babysitting your equipment and paying for the fuel to do so."
Does a security guard sit in a shed without heat or air conditioning? Why should a driver then?

I cannot believe the non sense drivers are putting up with.

Not like May's idle policy hasn't been discussed here ad naseum. Doesn't anyone on this forum use the SEARCH button?

what scooter said... theres lots of posts that were started just on this topic alone in the may forum. yeah it sucks, and from what I understand totally illegal, but im sure they dont care they have new drivers coming in waves and that govt money keeps them with new trucks ^.^

despite all this, are they a good starter company to begin with compared to the other starter companies?
