I wouldn't go that far I'll tell you this when I showed up in my pickup truck it never got me anywhere so I always show up in the semi business cards are cheap and go along way also people like donuts and Colotchie's....anytime I need to show up at a customer I bring them little stuff like that goes a long way.
I've said it before your not going to knock on a door and win that customer over sometimes it takes me months or a year remember Rome wasn't built in a day!! What helps me out is I push the fact that if they need something over the weekend or after hours I could help them out most first loads I do for people is that, most guys around me don't work weekends and I charge more money than I do in the week so why not?

May was a good month but not what I see every month. I've been on my own since 2006 not long after starting my authority I added one truck two years later I added two more in 2010 I had five trucks of my own and two leased to me. I sold everything and started over at the end of 2012. I've been a single truck owner operator since, at one point I was dispatching all my trucks and brokering also so I can say I've about done it all that helps a lot.
If I could stop my dead head miles my all miles would run $3.50/ mi but not all my loads go to good areas so I'll always have high empty miles, also I still pay almost $1,000 a month for a office but it's not making me broke so I'll keep it for now

Could i lease a truck from a company for example stevens and then find my own customers or loads??
-
No if do a lease purchase you are stuck pulling only what they offer even if there is loads out there most big company's won't even think of letting a broker make money off there truck!
-
ok so whats the way to get a truck and start your own business?
-
whats the best way to get a truck and start your own business and to get your own loads? would you recommend going company or do owner operator to save the money to get your truck?
-
Well the first thing is read read read!! Do you have a idea of what you want to pull? You have your CDL now? How much money you have saved?........I would never suggest starting out in trucking as a owner operator there's lots to learn I did most of it leased to someone.
