Smokey, this post is spot on. Thanks and I don't need to repeat it. I believe from your post I left there a little after you did. Everything you said is exactly true. They don't wan't experienced drivers...actually they do, but don't want to pay for the experience. It's cheaper for them to use newbies to move the freight at a ridiculously low speed....hey it works for them. Yep and agree...you will learn to drive with this company and if you can hang you will learn how to drive in wind, ice, snow, mountains, chaining, and every other thing we all hate. Good post Smokey.Robert Eroica Dupea and smokey12 Thank this.

I would like to add one more thing to the post concerning May Trucking. It can be a great place to start but here are the real statistics. The low end of the annual gross pay scale is around 39K per year and the high is around 45K per year. I don't have to prove it, you can do the research. They advertise up to 50 cpm...that is true, but to get to that level you need about 10 years experience....I digress and will leave it alone at this point. Good luck and best wishes to the OP.
smokey12 Thanks this. -
Thanks Omega what you stated is spot on also. I would probably go back with May when I go back otr, local now, if they paid more. Like you said, their starting company low pay plan works for them so oh well. I know a few teams and trainers that have been there for a while..but only a few. Main reason I think is May is relatively easy to work with and that benefit outweighs the pay scale for them. When I go back OTR looking at some companies that run similar long good routes like May that pay substantially more. Like you said they are great for experience..thats about it. Wish it was different.
