well, you are 'technically' hired yeah, but you get paid mileage... you aren't driving, so you aren't makin money ^.^ (of course besides the $90 a day, but that starts when you actually start working) when anyone goes back to see what your hire date is, its the last day of your orientation, or 2nd day, one or the other. When Interstate went to check my hire date with May, they were telling me I would have to wait until my full year as a solo driver, cause I guess thats when some companies actually consider you a driver, but may didn't differentiate between solo and trainer time, so the day I was hired was good enough for them, and I didn't get a trainer until about a week after orientation was over. I don't remember if we got paid for orientation... lol

If you want to receive your paystubs via email I suggest you contact payroll in Brooks and let them know. I preferred being able to see my paystub shortly after they deposited my pay into Comdata so I could make sure I got paid for what I had coming. If there was an issue I could deal with it immediately.
Paloma Thanks this. -
May doesn't pay new hires for attending orientation, most companies don't. The company I work for now paid me $125 for a six hour orientation which was pretty cool. They even paid for my COBRA insurance coverage until the 90 day probation period ended.

They gave us that option in oriention. We signed a paper for that too. I think I actually signed less paper work when I joined the Navy.

we got $150 here for 2 days of orientation, tho a lot longer than 6 hrs lol, was more like 20

Yeah it was just me and one other dude. We did a road test and filled out a few papers. Then they gave me the keys to my truck and told me to bobtail to L.A., over 800 miles LOL

Like the man said. may pays $150 for orientation now. I wouldn't really say you're technically hired til you solo. Your training is your interview sorta. I had a student who was with a trainer before me then he went with me things didn't work out bad driver so he was fired.

Well I got in my trainers truck in Colton yesterday and now here I sit in Farmington NM. In a wall mart parking lot. I have driven all of it except about 150 miles out of colton. I got a good trainer. And I am definitely learning.
