I have been out of the truck driving since I quit May so I hope that will not cause me problems.

It won't unless you try to sign up when the frt is slow. I had almost a year off from driving when I went there. Remember May is a smaller company and they pretty much gave up on attracting experienced drivers and prefer to train their own now. I hope they rehire you so they can stop bugging me to come back.

The company I work for now is only a 15 truck operation and mostly local. They pay to wash the truck weekly and do a inspection and service the truck overnight so I don't have to worry about breakdowns or driving around in a filthy truck pulling 15 year old hi cube trailers

I am currently fighting a ticket for fail to stop at a stop sign. Cop says I ran it I told him he must be mistaken I did stop.
Long story short when he wrote the ticket he made a few errors on the ticket put that I had a class R license, wrong date of birth, did not properly fill in the court date.

No problem either if all you have is one ticket. Mat has a point system for ticket and accident. a ticket is 2 points and a accident is 6 points. If you go over 10 points they have to terminate you. Of course this info is from last year, but 2 points won't keep you out.

Oh - I know that. It just gripes me, is all. SO far, though, it's the only load I've had rescheduled. And I flatly run by the book.

So far, no problem (except the one). I've had a couple split loads, but never spent more than 3 hours at the receiver. I can live with that.

yes, they're scheduled to allow you to make your deliveries without going illegal.. so, you are saying you'd rather run illegal?

yeah, that can happen. If you get caught in one of those loops, a quick word to your DM will usually get you out with your next load. If you sit there and take it, they'll assume you are happy with it and you'll stay there forever until chance kicks you out.

yeah, for now, I'd agree. I have limited time out there.. and I don't push it. I'm gonna make about 8000 miles this month (bearing in mind a 34 in Seattle, an 84 in Spokane, and 3 days at least home time right now) - if I were driving those days, that's an additional 3000 miles

There you go - if you just pull the loads, you'll GET the loads. Same as with just about any company out there. Start complaining about loads and you'll sit and wait for that "perfect" load.

It happens. I suppose. Not had to wait for a load yet, though.

    experiences vary, don't they? :)

Hello, can anyone say Yolo drop yard.....
And they spout all that crap about saving fuel...
Cant move a muscle any more with prior authorization...
Yet you cant get evening or weekend dispatch to answer up in less
    than 3 hrs...

Are you new to May and to the trucking industry?

Did they just start that you can not move without prior authorization?

If you can not get them to answer via the qualcomm any faster call them.

Did you send a text message or just a standard message?

If you sent a standard message that would be the problem they do not check them often enough.

If you send them a text message it will break through what ever they are doing and usually answer right back.

In most terminals they have a authorized bobtail list you may want to get a copy from each terminal.

Atleast you have a toilet at the yolo yard so you can use the bathroom but it sucks there is nothing close around so you can get something to eat.

I understand about saving fuel but I will not starve, freeze, sweat to death just to save any company money.

That truck is your home and personal transportation when you need to eat, shop, etc.

They do tell you that you are not authorized to just drive the truck around but they do understand a few miles due to eating, shopping, etc.

That is why they have the authorized bobtail locations.

If they get any stricter and tell people that they can not move the truck unless they are dispatched on a load they will not have any problem saving fuel becase they will not have any drivers for the trucks.

Do you have a problem with alot of out of route miles or alot of extra miles on the truck?
If there are alot of excess miles on the truck between loads that is the problem for them and I can understand them being mad.
If you put alot of extra miles on the truck they can charge you for it they can even charge you for excessive idleing.
I had never had any problems with excessive miles or idleing the truck. I got my idle bonus like clock work it varried some but that is because of the heat and having to sit waiting on a load or a dispatch.
I was even lucky enough to be able to take my truck to my city were I live and park it at a truckstop near me that was aprox 60 miles each way. I was never charged for it but was not paid for those miles either which I understood about not getting paid for those miles.

If you have to sit and idle waiting on a load or a dispatch all you have to do is let your dispatcher know when, were and the aprox temp and they can adjust your idle time.
