Well bad news they will want a refresher course since you have been out of school for so long.

As for them saying they have no trucks right now that I can assure you is most likely a lie they probaly get atleast 1 to 5 per week turned in at most terminals.

They have by far more truck turn in's at Layton terminal because they are the worst terminal and have the worst dm's there.

Some people have issues with pay there myself I have never had any issues but I have heard about them.

Almost all issues are caused by the drivers by not getting the paperwork in by the deadline. But for some reason they always blame the company for their mistakes.

The other Issues may be the info scanned did not come out clearly so the driver does not get reimbursed for things like tolls, scale, trailer wash out, lumper, etc but can not blame that on the company either maybe the scanner was dirty were you scanned the info at.

They are not hiring because they don't have freight and their drivers keep wrecking the trucks.

I live in Tacoma Wa and saw 2 May trucks wrecked in the bad weather up here. One wrecked on 405 and the other on I-5. just in the SeaTac area.

I have been doing lots of chaining to get around because we have compact snow and Ice around here on most of the roads and the temp is around 12 degrees below normal. These are the worst road conditions I have seen up here since the 80's so stay away if you can.

My company shut me down yesterday for a few days because I haul Hazmat and getting in a wreck is not a option for me.:yes2557:

Big Blue is right, even here in Eugene when we do get snow it doesn't stay on the ground long but we had a bad week, rain that turned to ice because of the temp. dropped below freezing then snow on top of that! Saw lots of trucks off the road even with chains on didn't help..
I don't work for MTC but i see their trucks on I-5 here in OR all the time, along with GTI & SWIFT; those are the most prominent companies that are moving freight in this area.. with the little freight there is they have to give what freight they do have to their veteran drivers to keep them happy.

I suspect there is a hiring freeze nationwide due to the holiday season & the sour economy but don't sit & wait, get your experience with whoever will hire you now, take your lumps to get your experience & move up later when the economy picks up, then you will meet the requirements from the companies your intrested in that want at least 6 months or a year experience for new applicants.

I had to reply to this. I am no longer with MTC. In my 3 months with them, it was not much more than a HUGE headache. 1 month sitting due to assorted breakdowns. Soloing into a truck that I had to recover that had been sitting for 6 weeks, wasn't running, and was full of lice when I got it. Numerous 34 hour resets, including 2 that I did in the week I was with my trainer. Pay issues that as of this date have still not been resolved, and best of all, due to a scheduling snafu with my prior D/M I was told I'd have to spend the night in the Yolo yard in the back of a trailer because my D/M had not authorized a hotel for me and I had not yet been seated in a replacement tractor. I could go on for quite a while but I won't. My only real bright spot was being with trainer Dave Upton ( 4549 ). Thanks Dave for making it a little better.

What is the name of the person who told you that?

No credit card for a motel?

At May you have to keep on top of them with preplns and lots of speed dial comm work. If you wait till you mty out the drivers that work the system will already have your load.

Like I have said before they do not have the freight base to keep you rolling so it is important to get loads lined up in advance.

I found that the dispatcher you have at May can make or break you. Getting lots of layover tells me yours was a clock watcher or you weren't a asset to them meaning, ready to roll 24/7 on whatever they dished out.

Big disconnect at May between safety and op's. Shop staff bottom of barrel, trailers in bad shape.

I found them to be nice people who ran me pretty good because I did what it took to get the loads. But their equip and facility's where bad news and they had to much short haul.

was you 11 western or 48 because 11 western is mostly short runs. I did have a dry load that went about 1200 miles once they thought my truck was fixed from denver to spokanne valey wa.

I use to do what it took to get the miles some of the hills I went down them at 71 mph I use to run from layton to payette turn and burn back from there I only was able to make it halfway back because I had to sit and wait for another driver to drop my load that I was grabbing.

I made my logbook work for me most of the time unless I was po'd at the dm.
