In the most recent one, he was pointing out that drinking is frowned upon by companies - particularly while you are in possession of one of their $100,000 trucks. IF he had driven the truck to the club, he would stand to lose his license as well as his job.6pak4-two said: ↑So far your making no sense on your replys to me. is that your usuall m.o.? Are you mister wizard or mr rogers.? It the wizard on the bottom of your post suppose to make you look wiser then anyone else or something ?Click to expand...
Since, apparently, May considered him still on duty (he still had the truck) even though he was on HomeTime, they terminated him.
Personally, I think that's a lot of hooey, but can absolutely see it happening.
As for you.. if you want to succeed in this business, it might be a good idea to learn a little tolerance and maybe a little manners. A simple request for clarification would have been appropriate. Attacking him and his choice of images is completely unwarranted. Or are you like that to anybody who's half your age - even though he has more experience than you do in the subject matter?
Nope, I'm not a moderator or on staff here. They're smarter than that. Still, rude and antagonistic behavior is - aside from being rude - counter productive. If I were 6pak, I'd either get in your face for being uncivilized or completely blow you off as not worth my time.
So, grab a chill-pill and learn the pleasures of 'please', 'I'm sorry', and 'thank you'.Click to expand... -
Lurchgs said: ↑Thanks Lurchgs the boy is P****d at me for calln him to the carpet in another thread something about a good job. As I recall his idea of a good job is cheap training and a terminal close to home LOL.Skilligan said: ↑huh? I didn't have any trouble following 6pak's replies. Not to doubt your story but If you were on Time off why would they call you with a load? Were you at home but not on official time off?Rider said: ↑To make a long story short they fired me for drinking and having my truck at home (on hometime) according to May I was still technicaly on duty because I took my truck home with me on hometime...just in case you wanted to know how they found out they called me to do a local run for them and I said no because I was out on the town at the bar, as if that wasent enough when I applyed with the company I am now which took my side on the whole story, the recruiter was telling me that when she did my employment verifaction that they did everything in their power to talk me down and me not get hired, have fun with that all is well though I am happy were I am at nowClick to expand...

I have a couple of buddies driving for May and they really like the Company. They have been trying to get me to come over there, but the way they describe the shift pattern in the truck sounds really complicated and that's why I am hesitant. Is it easy to grasp? I'm used to five down and five up.
-
the shifting pattern is easy to learn or grasp!
i learned on a 10 speed, they showed me how the 13 works and it was off to the races,
the 387's come with a 9, very simple straight up shifting, imo.. -
The Pete I road-tested on was 5/5, plus a low and a couple reverse's I ground the heck out of it - mostly because I had (realistically) little experience in school, and because it's been 30 days since I drove. But *part* of it was being unfamiliar with the shift pattern. If I stopped and thought about it, shifting wasn't a problem. It was when I let my hind-brain take over that it all went south. Kept trying to hit gates that weren't there - and the pattern is upside-down from the KW.Billy BigRigger said: ↑I have a couple of buddies driving for May and they really like the Company. I figger it won't take me more than a tranny or two to get used to it!
-
Thanks for the replies regarding the shift pattern inquiry. My buddies said the same as you - once you start using a (13-speed is it?) 13-speed, it comes pretty natural after awhile. That's funny about the tranny. I could see myself going through a couple of those as well! Thanks again for the input from you guys.

Im thinking about going with may as my first company. I graduated forom truck driveing school a year and a half ago so im sure i'll be really rusty but should be able to pick it back up quickly. Is may a good company for a new driver? And how long is training typically?
