Btw, he was the same guy that while driving the second or third day was eating sunflower seeds. He was driving with his elbows on the wheel, using his hands to to crack the seeds in his mouth and then throw the shell into a bag. Picture that in your mind?
So, I said to him, "don't do that, man!" His reply was, "do what?" "Don't drive with your elbows, it's not safe." To which he gave me a smart ### reply. Not the response to give to me.
I told him to pull off the freeway and head over to truck stop and park. He was so mad at me for challenging him that when he came to the stoplight he forgot to switch down the gear splitter to the low position, so, instead of taking off in second gear, he was trying to start in 6 gear! He kept stalling the truck and yelling WTF is going on! I just sat there looking straight ahead with my arms folded silent.
It was a beautiful thang! When it was all said and done he ended up being a first class "yes sir" citizen on my truck

sounds like an unthoughtful...dangerous trainee-driver, I usually kept my mouth shut, listened...watched & paid attention.
Funny how on the other side my trainer...the 1st day or two while I was on his truck he was briefly a road rage driver..cussing & flipping people off a few times then on 3rd day he just stopped doing it...I was like whoah...should I jump ship now or wait it out....I`m the type that does`nt like to rock boat especially with a trainer so I just rode it out -
What's it like by the way bunking with a trainer for 8-10 days? I hope they are professional because not too cool with having to do that but got to learn somehow.

It wasn't as bad as I thought that it would be. Bring earplugs, bite your tongue, grit your teeth and you'll get through it.

LOL......

Lol,that's about it in a nutshell, trainers are just drivers making a few extra bucks. The first guy I went out with I got along with fine but he smoked like a chimney (I being a non smoker) and snored like a chainsaw running.

I kinda had it made...for 3 weeks my trainer went home daily plus weekends so I was able to bobtail to truck stop closeby daily & sleep alone in bottom bunk & clean truck,
but then I went 1 week with otr trainer... had top bunk, he did`nt clean truck very often but we managed, he was a really good guy & trainer and doing it for training students not the extra $$...wish I would`ve had him for full 4 weeks even thru his mess lol,
It`s not too bad though...if you get good person you just deal with it, try to be friendly, pay attention, listen & do what`s asked & hope trainer signs you off to solo out quickly,
if your a smoker...some trainers that do smoke don`t allow smoking in trucks -
My trainer was a really cool older hippy dude. He smoked as well, however, I was desperate to get on a truck, get it over with so I could start making some money. He was not into training solely to make extra money. He truly wanted to pass on his experience.
