The problem isn't the new fangled traffic control ideas or the engineering behind em, the problem is the education. They just throw these things up and expect people to figure it out. Not only that, they expect people to figure out how to share them with big trucks. EVERYTHING about the road is different when big trucks are around. How to merge, how to brake, why you shouldn't cut us off, how wide we turn, all of it.

A bad one was on highway 3 on the north side of Billings by the airport. I would just set up in the middle of the road and take it all. Worse was the turn in Billings from I-90 business route onto 87. Had to make the right turn from the left turn lane and no escort... had to get pretty aggressive on both, but that's on the local drivers.
The 117 truck bypass in Val-d'Or, Quebec is five roundabouts in a row. It isn't magic, but it isn't too bad either. Again with the OS loads I just take as straight a path as I can.

These are more truck friendly.
And wide/long loads can use all off it as you can drive over marking/curbstones (at slow speed)
The curbstones don't have hard edges and are very low.650cat425, singlescrewshaker and Tug Toy Thank this.
