Well I have been talking to my recruiter all day and getting things like my app faxed in and other documents, they seemed cool with my termination from werner which kinda has be a little nervous if im actually talking to a real recruiter. The email address seems legit but not quite sure as of yet lol. I will find out more tomorrow.
Maybe starting at US XPress

While I have not worked for Werner, I have worked USX and another carrier. I found USXpress to be a decent co. Pay was on time and decent for a starter co.; equipment is newer than most and reasonably well taken care of; terminal facilities were better than others I've seen; transflow is WAY better than the antiquated trip-pack used by many other cos.; more drop and hook and less hand unloading than the other co I worked for; assigned dispatch rather than zone dispatch and usually able to get an actual person to talk to on weekends.
The only real complaint I had with them was forced teaming for the first six months. To CColvin, if you decide to go with them and do not want to drive team after up-grading to a solo driver, make CERTAIN that you get something in writing from somone with some weight behind them -- your prospective terminal mgr perhaps -- promising you a solo slot upon successful completion of training.
On the other hand, some folks will be more comfortable having a partner in the truck with them in the beginning. The dangers with that though, are obvious. Also .185 cpm ( half of .37 cpm for ALL miles driven by the truck ) compares fairly well with the .25 to .28 cpm you can expect elsewhere as a rookie driver. Good luck with whichever way you decide. -
well as far as the team thing my recruiter said nothing of it, as far as he told me i will be western region but I already have experience, but I will be finding out more later.

My Ex was w/USX for a short time started in Feb and was recently terminated d/t accident. I thought the company was pretty decent. He did a dedicated route (Dollar Tree) -did not have to team or ask to team at all. His FM was pretty good guy. Pay was decent ( for a newbie) I over all had no complaints about USX.

Don't assume you'll be offered solo just because nothing was said about it. My recruiter also told me I would be solo western region (for USX that means W of I-35). It was not until I finished the up-grade testing at Tunnel Hill, GA., that they told me team. Complaining to my recruiter and even the head of training in Chattanooga, was no help. They did allow me to run solo for a few weeks until they found a partner wth Haz-Mat in my area.
My team partner was a fellow who had been with the co. for many years and had a reasonably good record with them. After the first month or two some 'ticks' in his behavior began to show through and came to a head one day when he thought it was OK to use our three week old Cascadia as a battering ram against a Schneider driver who 'pissed him off' in a rail yard. You never know how little it can take to send people over the edge given the right set of circumstances.
How long did you drive for Werner? Just curious about where they have said they would start you at. They've called me three times and said I would be eligible for re-hire if I chose to. Except for the forced teaming, I felt very comfortable at USX.
All the best to you.Last edited: Aug 26, 2010

well if usx starts asking for letters make sure you get answers fast. and if it is taking them days get out and find a job because it is a good chance that you will not be working for usx.
