    In a 2004 Freightliner Columbia, 900,000 on the ticker.
    Mechanics report white smoke on heavy acceleration, engine as a definite miss probably bad injector.
    Turbo has oil seals leaking.

    Model S410S063
    SN 1808M050946-039
    How expensive, and difficult is a rebuild of this turbo?
    Engine starts right up, idles rough, will slobber out the exhaust just past turbo exhaust connection.

    Get a second opinion.. symptoms sound like a leaky injector not turbo .. fuel in exhaust will slobber black soot with looks like oil leaking ..

    ☝What he said. Smoke likely smells heavy of fuel. Easy to distinguish. If so, either injector issue, or low compression.

    Believe it or not, white exhaust smoke is raw fuel. Definitely possible its just fuel/soot mix and not oil from the turbo.

    Will hooking a laptop with the correct software be able to properly diagnose?

    Possibly. Do an injector cutout and kill each injector till the smoke clears. Then you know which cylinder is causing your fault

    When starting, it fires right off, hardy turns over after hitting the key, and it’s idling.

    If you stand several yards away, you can see faint white smoke out the stack, as soon as I can walk away after starting. I am currently a ‘one man show here’ lol.

    Gotcha. You have a miss, so that's easy. If you can do a cylinder cutout, I'd start there and try to isolate it, by either losing the smoke under throttle, or just listening.
