I have not installed the 7cz to an mbn, I have installed 6NZ 550 hp with no problems. You will need to drill and install a fitting in the compressor housing to feed boost to the wastegate. This eliminates the ecm controled wastegate. You will also have to plug the boost feed on the head to the wastegate control valve. The wastegate will protect the turbo from overspeed in higher rpm. You can still put more stress on the turbo with more fuel but that happens to all turbos. The 33 psi derate is part of the mbn flash file. All derates, parameters and hp is in the flash file. So yes the 33 psi derate will not be in the 6NZ or 7cz file.

The injectors were 10r0958, The 59s would be too much, customer works the truck hard. The file was a later 7CZ 2300 file. Time will tell engine life. I built the engine tight at .006 projection so the headgasket should take the increased pressure. I also replaced the top piston ring with the heavy haul ring. This should help also. The customer pulls heavy and is a good driver, He was getting almost 7 mpg canadian before the rebuild with just good fuel numbers. He was around 5 mpg before I set the fuel numbers.
95flatglass Thanks this. -
How can one tell what the ecm file number is? I have a 7cz rated at 575hp. Will have to get the serial and post tomorrow. I have a set of 10r0958 injectors, what increase could i expect?
Thanks -
Thats what im talking about DDS! Kinda though you used the 58s, i have a identical set up to his but 59s and bigger turbo, my flash is a 7CZ 600hp 2300 HH program 127fls and 0fts, i changed the trim codes to 6999. Im hitting the dyno tomorrow as i had a injector problem today and didnt get it fixed in time.
I see you said you shut it down at 1450rpm, imagine that wouldve done 800hp+ easy if you spun it all the way up, that a very good set up!!!!..... I noticed a huge difference with my 7CZ ecm over the 6NZ and 59s im running..... What has me curious is if the extra compression of the MBN will give me any benefit over a 6NZ set up this way. -
The serial number can be used to check performance specs and file. Cat system will show If it has been rerate. If someone has changed outside of cat, then hooking up to Cat ET is the only way to know for sure. I would expect around 150 hp but that depends on engine condition and also injector condition. Are they Cat remans, are they fresh?

The dyno pulls down from 2100, the peak hp was at around 1500, did not want to pull right down to 1200 rpm due to fresh liner packs, did not want to scuff liners before break in. The exhaust temp got up to 1000 f

DDS what is the part number for the "heavy haul ring"? What advantages does it offer?
I have a 2ws to build and want to maximize it for mileage and longevity. A little hp won't make me frown though!

Ahh ok gotcha, thats pretty good!
Now i can wait to dyno mine! -
DDS, thanks for the response. Yes the injectors are remans and are fresh. I am sorting out a few other things on the truck right now, but I want to try the 0958 soon.

I don't know what effect the compression would have. If you check hp ratings, The c15low hp had 18:1 and high hp had 17:1 and if you go to 800 marine it drops to 16:1. Is cat doing this for engine life to reduce headgasket pressure or nox emissions. I can see to high of compression lowering hp but have not got to prove on a dyno.
