I understand that its a cat engine. the fan starting temp value must be adjustable because they go on buses too. the cooling is different there and usually fan starts at lower temp.
maybe but I thought the discussion was for c-15's and e-models in trucks. 70 pin ecm and 120 pin's. the old 40 pin's im not sure of..
I know another way to make fan start at lower temp. can be done with any engine. resistor addition on temp sensor.
I have a radiator replaced with a 4 row heavy duty. It lowered the temps down. Next thing I'm looking in is to replace the air cooler with detroit powermax coolers, maybe.
I have a manual fan switch that I use and guages I watch religiously. Mine might rarely get to 203* but most times never over 197*.
I just called a Cat dealer. Fan is preset to come on at 205 or 217 depending on the engine. Cannot be changed. I just hate it when I make a mistake.
actually cat dealers won't tell you they can change it because they have rules on what they can do to written programs. if you know any of the top tuners on here they can adjust it down to a suitable temp for you. you can also put a temp switch in line to make the fan come on manually with a screw in temp switch wire into the fan.
