Why do people here see a shortcut as unethical? What about it makes it unethical? Before you answer, think. Your "feelings" don't make something unethical. If it is legal, then it is exercising a business option. Is there a drivers Hippocratic Oath that governs the industry, and actions such as the one discussed? I truly am perplexed at this phenomenon.

@swaggerjacker .
Because there tends to be a lot of scared people......See, In a free,open market, SENIORITY- Let me repeat SENIORITY, doesn't matter........Guys that have 20-40 years of street,office and sales time Don't want the Young,Noviced,"Im gonna buy a truck and Take freight" Folks out here.
Notice Many other Professions the guy or company withy the Most experience gets the Better contracts-customers? And in a union environment......You don't dare try and step on someones toes, embarking on a better deal than someone that has put forth years of service...
But, In Transportation- Its pretty much,"GO GET IT" Stepping on toes is very common among folks That care about themselves and have no integrity whatsoever.
I Do at Least have to hand your approach to this as honorable- Not too many guys just starting out Will travel to meet with possible new business........
Most of these guys go out-Buy a Truck-Get their MC- then its.............
"Hi, I Call on Load from xxx to xxx"
Broker- OoooKkkk
"How much it pay"
Broker- $825.00 on 584 miles
"Ok,I take load"
Ruining transportation 1 day at a time!!!easytopleez33, whoopNride and swaggerjacker Thank this. -
@stayinback
Thanks very much for that reply. That helps me to understand what I called the "phenomenon" much better.
The thing of it is, It makes no sense to take a back seat to someone because I am forward thinking. Seasoned veterans don't have a "right" to a darned thing. I'm 53 years old and changing careers to better the life for myself and my family. They are what is important to me. I assure all of you that I have done and continue to do my homework. I'm not looking to water down the industry by taking cheap loads and run crappy illegal equipment on our roads. I have over a hundred years of driver experience helping me along the way. I'm investing in software, load boards, accountants, etc..
There is no seniority in this industry. Seniority is found inside companies in the industry. Industries evolve. trucking is no different. Evolve or watch those who do, succeed. I thank those who've come before me, my homes throughout my life was/is filled with things taken from your vans. I get that. I appreciate that.
Having said that, I will not sit quietly and allow someone who disagrees with my business strategy, to call me unethical, because I didn't and refuse to go the route you "chose" to follow. It doesn't matter if that was all there was. You still chose to do it.
stayingback, thanks for the kinds words and clarification. The industry is about to blow up! That's a good thing. I'm just out to earn a living. Merry Christmas Drivers! Each and every one of you.
Stevestayinback Thanks this. -
Just to clarify, I didn't misinterpret your post stayinback, I was speaking to others.
