I, too would love to know more (but with a hyperlink from some Federal site - either USDOT, or FMCSA, not from hear-say, and poor interpretation from a good friend who knows this stuff real well. Does it mean that old MC numbers are converted, abolished, changed, re-set, re-assigned, What? Meanwhile nobody here with a red rig?

Owner Operators also need their own MC or work under some other corporation's name, right or wrong? I don't know that it makes a huge difference, except that you may get gypped more easily working for others, you never know if somebody has photo-shopped your rate sheet or not.

got a 293*** if you really have 3500.00

You know that if you do a transfer of that number you have to get a new DOT# and TIN# ? To keep the same you would have to purchase the stock of the corp(it is a c-corp) the MC# would come with the sale. Corp is active until the end of the year. The MC# was de-activated a few months ago. About 1500.00 in legal fees to write up the sale.

I thought they did away with MC numbers when they switched to online registration of DOT numbers this year.

Trying to figure out what kind of idiots this guy has that pays 15-35K for a MC#
