Just dropping a line to everyone interested in a job for this company, if it sounds to good to be true, it is! I applied for a position with this outfit and was offered a casual drivers spot. Now, for those of you who aren't familiar with a casual position, it's when you're hired onto the company's payroll, not full time and, not really part time but, whenever they need a fill in driver in your district/area run. Per the requirements of the employment, you're not required to work at all, you just someone covered on insurance in case they need a warm body for a seat. Of course, you have to work to make money so, I worked every opportunity I could, but with this poor equipment, it gets tiring really quick. I worked like a madman for them and on one episode I had a major breakdown on my pickup so I had to replace all the brake calipers. I got a call 2 hours before a trip was supposed to leave one night. The full time driver decided he didn't want to work at the last minute, I got a phone call asking me to be at work in 2 hours to pull a 12 hour trip. I didn't have a vehicle, mine was on jacks tore down, I had been up since 5 am too. I told them what my situation was and for the first time I wasn't able to cover a run, which being a casual is completely your choice. I was shunned, removed from payroll, called lazy, told I didn't want to work. So if your considering working for mca/salmon, it's a good paying gig and laid back but, if you're a casual, be prepared to be treated like ####.
