Do they run lanes close to your house that could get you home fridays ? Or a terminal close by ? In theory, you need to empty out friday close by your home, then proceed home with empty truck, then get a load monday, right ? Can you take your truck home ? Questions to ask........

    Services | McElroy Truck Lines

Looking at this page, it appears South Carolina is in their service area. I'd say it's a safe bet that you'll get home every Friday. Probably get to take the truck home, but yes as alluded to earlier, make sure you ask those questions, either to the recruiter or in orientation.

I don't understand why you would bother wasting your time asking strangers on the Internet instead of your potential employer. We're not McElroy. Nobody here has any power to say where they hire from.

What you should be doing instead is researching here about McElroy with drivers who have driven for them. Be careful of what current drivers say too because most carriers give bonuses to their drivers for recruiting new meat in the seat.

Remember, you're interviewing THE COMPANY. They will be all up in your life from every aspect for the past 10 years so you should be doing your own "background" check as well.

Note that TMC is also flatbed -- & has a new terminal in SC:

TMC's New South Carolina Terminal Is Looking Great!

If you want to be home on weekends, I think they would be ok with that...since you're in SC, too.

With TMC....you would have more freight options. For example: TMC also has a marine group that hauls watercraft:

Anyway, just some food for thought.....
