Philip how is their road test and will they work with you in getting your skills up just coming out of cdl school?

 

I should have failed my road test and they passed me, they know your new and nervous

Philip once you apply how long does it take to get into orientation?

 

Not quite sure, I applied before I finished school so I was ready to go afterwards

 

I did McElroy orientation and three weeks with a "trainer" before I was hired with a small local company.

Orientation in NC is a week of videos and a week of backing practice/ throwing straps. It's impossible not to make it through orientation unless you fail the drug or physical tests.

Pray to god you get a decent trainer. The other two guys in my class got straight up trainers who showered and stopped for toilet breaks, etc.

I was stuck with a disgruntled trainer who was passed over for a local McElroy job the day before I got in his truck.

My first week was spent listening to him bad mouth McElroy. He spent his days searching Craigslist for a local job with another company.

The first day I was with him, he told me he would be recommending me for training with another trainer. I should have called safety after that first day.

Anyway, I spent three weeks with the miserable guy. He would actually piss in a Coca Cola bottle at a rest stop! Then he'd leave his piss bottles at customer yards. His passive aggressive way of "getting back" at McElroy I guess.

Even though showers were free with fuel, this guy would not stop long enough at a truck stop to get a shower. He'd go out of his way to stop on an on ramp or stay at a rest area. I bathed out of sinks.

The second week in, my trainer was rushing to get home on a Friday. He was yapping on the phone while loading his vape with juice and driving with his knees. This was on I-40 in Greensboro at rush hour. Sure enough, he clipped the mirrors of a school bus while passing.

He wanted to just keep going. I convinced him to pull over and report it. Sorry piece lied and said the bus clipped him... Okay. He was the one passing. Anyway, I hope to god that if you go to McElroy that you do not get him as a trainer. He shares the name of a basketball player from NC. He's very racist and he's about the dirtiest human I've ever met.

Anyway,

Sure enough, after three weeks, safety tells me I have to do another two weeks with another trainer because my trainer said I was not ready.

Thank god I got the local gig after that third week.

The other guys in my class are happy with McElroy. One went local right out of training.

The trucks cut off @ 15 minutes. It's a starter company, good training but no pay.

 

The trucks have climate sensors which cut them off.

The 17 prostars dont have the idle sensors.
