I know on the food service side of McLane's they drive mostly day cabs. Is it mostly nightshift work? When I'm headed to work at 3am every morning I see the McLane trucks already unloading at restaurants. I really want to get into foodservice at either MBM or McLane's (I know they're the same company now) but I'm really trying to get away from the nightshift. I can deal with getting up early early in the morning just not the graveyard shift. For the record I'm not interested in the grocery side of McLane's (sleeper teams/53 foot). Any drivers out there that could answer my question?

Yes night work. Have to get into small lots after hours, they don't want lot blocked or doors blocked. Plus you have very tight deadlines so can not be in heavy traffic during days.

    JRut Thanks this.

I'm an order selector at sysco. And are drivers come in between 2-6am depending on routes and are back at the yard between 2-6pm

Cool Drew see I wouldn't mind that shift since that's what I'm already used to. Start about 3 am get back around 2 pm. Its just the getting up at 10 pm for work thing I wouldn't do. I wish sysco would call me back!

Us Foods. Hardly work nights, here and there but mostly 3am starts as a bottom extra board guy.

I heard us foods is less work, but doesn't pay quite as well either..don't know how true it is. But it might be a sacrifice I'm willing to make to stay away from nights..

It starts at 19.15hr depending on area. 4 day work week you can always put your name to work Sat make extra money, nobody wants to work sat. During busy times winter and summer I'd work 50hrs+ it slows in the spring but your always gaurentee your 40hrs even if you don't work. Most are union and they are the second biggest behind Sysco. It's all on what runs you pick, pick the biggest cases runs and you'll make money. They have a pay by case package that's were you make the money.

Mclane is one of the best paying but daycabs usaully deliver nights from what I understand, they deliver to major corporation accounts. Sysco and US Foods delivers to major and mom and pops acct. That's why you get alot of day runs cause of the mom and pop joints.
