Do any of the FoodService companies hire ride alongs or helpers on their routes? I would be interested working in the Madison, Decatur and Cullman,AL area.

I work for Dot. Its not very hard or tiring at all, probably one of the easiest jobs I ever had. The money is good too...ibpersonally would never drive a truck for less than 60k a yr

I've been working for Mclane for about a year now. It has it's ups and downs but all in all I know a few drivers and met a few that have made over 140k/year. Sound unreasonable? Get your dispatcher to like you. The harder you work, the more time you cut off runs, the more runs you do all plays a factor. I'm personally gonna make around 85-90k this year. There is two mclanes that pay hourly, most restaurant service is done in daycabs. I work mon-thurs and make around 1850-1900. I work for the Pennsylvania division we run all of eastern pa and all of jersey. We are the worst paid division. I'm on two finals and a verbal and they still haven't canned me. Maybe some divisions are getting killed and having to can drivers but not ours we are hiring off the wazoo. Yes the work is hard, but if your strong and reasonably in shape the day goes by quickly. Hope you got your backing skills down to a T : ) If anyone wants more info message me.
skyviper73 Thanks this. -
1800 a week sounds a little hard to believe. I know a driver for McLanes in Houston and he only gets paid about 1100 a week and that's level 4 pay. He says a new driver will probably start out at level 2 pay and only get around 700-800$ a week.

Thanks jrut for setting the record straight. I would have liked that type of work back when I was in high school.

Hahahahaha, we have guys making 3000/wk here you figure a regular grocery run is around the market of 425 and 560 usually around 18 hours do 6 of those a week : )
-
18 hrs a day? $3000/wk is that team drivers?
-
18 hours is usually what a grocery takes give or take if your slower or faster. Yes, grocery loads are usually done with a team and when I say you gross 500 you gross 500 each individual person on the truck gross's that much.

My buddy said it was his best paying foodservice gig. He was doing the team thing there. He wished he didn't lose that job. He liked it better then US Foods and a couple other foodservice jobs.
