In this thread, I am going to attempt to talk about my adventures as a driver for Morehouse Truck Lines.
Earlier in the year, I was a shag driver for Greater Omaha Express, I started in Feb. of 2016, I enjoyed the work, but a year later it was beginning to take it's toll on my knees so I began looking for a M-F schedule, instead of the M-Sat. I was working. Several things came up but fell through, so I went to work for a company called Monson and Sons. I really liked working for them, for one they had old school Pete's with big horsepower and transmissions. The truck I ended up with had a 600 hp CAT backed up with an 18-speed tranny and man could this truck pull. Around this time my mom was evaluated for a bad heart valve, and we learned that she was in the beginning stages of Dementia. So after some time had passed I knew that even with a caregiver for mom I was going to have to find a company that would get me home more, don't get me wrong, Monson was great to work for, we tried several things to make it work with my situation with mom, but ended up realizing that their system and my situation were not a good mix at this time, and they were very understanding and helped me to get back home.
After some research and a suggestion from a friend, I found Morehouse, liked what I saw and filled out an application, they like what they saw from the application I submitted and the background check and made me an offer that would fit my situation with my mom, I accepted and so it begins.

Good luck with Morehouse, I'm still driving your old truck at GO

Truck has now 369k on the clock, still under warranty. Will keep her as long as possible, only one breakdown in nearly two years!

Yeah when I was there they seemed to have a lot of problems with the auto freightliners

You will do well here .
Morehouse has lots of regular loads and we are always pre planned .
Lot of drivers here are home every weekend .
You could probably make a decent living here just running Columbus Ohio twice a week . -
I will start off by stating that I send you both prayers for what is to come as the Dementia advances... And the hope that the medicines will work to buy as much time as possible.
Im not sure if you want to be on the big road while the other is experiencing the losses imposed by Dementia. I am fully aware of what it costs for caregiving and so forth.
If anything I will be contrary and say this... try to use this time now to be with that person while you two still recognize one another. Because after a certain point even the memory will go away.truckerman75103, 88 Alpha and rmacjr Thank this. -
