I wont name the school so dont ask.
First:Im 5'1. Stupid short for trucking but Im going to try my hardest. Second: there are three trucks for 16 people. Here is my deal. Truck #1: can adjust seat, CANNOT adjust one mirror, truck is hard to get in gear. Truck #2: sometimes wont go into gear but its otherwise fine. Truck #3: Mirrors are ok but seat WILL NOT adjust. They are saying Im making excuses why I cant get a manuver down. What do you think?
Me complaining or is it an actual problem?

truck is piece of ####.lonelyswmtrucker Thanks this. -
Both, you are complaining and it's actually a problem
-
I would go with truck #2 if all is well with you, just jam it into gear. If they are not happy ask them to adjust the clutch.

inadequate equipment.....i'd get your money back. if you can't adjust the seat or the mirrors to suit your hieght then that's unsafe operation.
we had short folks in our class and all the equipment adjusted fine to suit them.
as for you not making the manuvers? they're full of ####. if you can't adjust the seat to allow for safe and adequate reach to the pedals, or can't adjust a mirror AT ALL, much less to where you can safely use it, then how is that YOUR fault you can't get it done? can you adjust the seat to reach the brakes? that would be a safety issue if you can't.
get your money back and find a school that actually maintains it's equipment. -
call the DOT anonymously and have them inspect the trucks. these schools need to be held accountable
-
Pretty much what he said, but I'll add, you need to depress the clutch to the floor for the clutch brake to work. See about getting your money back.
As a side note some trucks only have a Right hand power mirror, the left is manual.flyingmusician Thanks this. -
My suggestion ; you make it work. Use what they have. The real world ain't perfect.

I'd look it as a challenge. Overcome it, get your CDL and get on down the road. You WILL encounter junk trucks and a slew of other problems if you stay in trucking. It's how you handle these "challenges" that separate the men from the boys. I say meet your "challenges" head on....So, you in ?
