No matter how careful we are about buckling up, is there any among us who can truthfully say, "I have never forgotten to buck my seatbelt.?" I buckle mine to cross a parking lot, yet there have been times when a half hour down the road I'll go to adjust it and find out I never buckled it.
Considering the tenor and tone of the o.p.'s post, I wonder if this was an excuse to get rid of a pain in the you know where? A little humility goes a long way.
Let me comment on one more thing, I live in Illinois and I have found that neither the Illinois, or Indiana State Police live to make trucker's lives miserable. Don't do anything to draw attention to yourself and most of the time you'll be fine. On the other hand, many locals are just the opposite. -
Exactly. In both states it's the county sheriffs or local police departments that are more likely to pull you over than the state troopers.
-
Lol. All I read was till you forgot your seatbelt.
Do you ever forget to wipe after a dump too? Lol.
Safety is apparently their 1 priority. Good for them. -
Ah c'mon now. The OP helped build the company...single handledly to hear him tell it...and they fired him for not wearing his seat belt? We have a lot of long term and very loyal drivers and if one of them got cited for a seat belt we'd probably chew on him a little but I doubt we'd fire him. Why shoot ourselves in the foot over a simple mistake?
I think there might just be a little more to this story than we've been told so far.
In fact, I'd bet on it.DsquareD Thanks this. -
I wish he hadn't left the forum so soon. I'd really love to hear some more fiction about how one good driver, no matter how good they are, can turn a single-truck operation into a 10-truck operation, and how, since the owners wanted the "best of the best", they "naturally" chose him.
My gut tells me there is so much more to this story. I really want to find out the rest. Ole' King of all Truckers really must be the best of the best. -
Actually, it kind of sounds like he has given up on this one
-
Story is BS. Maybe Werner or Schneider would do this but I doubt some little 10 truck outfit is going to cann one of their good drivers over a stupid seatbelt ticket.
-
Rofl. Sheriffs and Local PD will never touch a truck unless they absolutely have to. Way too much Paperwork for them. The state troopers are the ones who are trained to #### with trucks and keep up with all our rules. Most sheriffs and local PD haven't even heard of HOS.

^Trust me,they have around Chicagoland. My brother is a DOT certified officer with the DuPage County Sheriffs Department and he's put a few drivers OOS for numerous reasons.
Dominick253 Thanks this.
