If I supply tools, fix your truck for you, does that pay better
than a steering wheel holder position?

Not trying to be a jackxxx, but I went through that once. I drove
an otr service truck for 3 and 1/2 years. traveled all over the US.
Bought $20000.00 in tools. In the end the company hired a new
guy for $10.00 and hour, and I was out. I am sorry but if you expect
me to buy tools and fix your truck you will pay me for my time
and you will put that in writing before I start.

I can only guess how many brand new shirts I destroyed
by crawling under somebody elses truck, for free, because
the owner didn't want to pay somebody to do the dirty work.
Never figured out how to adjust a clutch without getting dirty.

Alright, I'll get off my soapbox again............

I can't remember the last time I bought a new shirt. You must have been paid pretty well

I hear ya. The tools and working on the truck were exaggerated a bit for the sake of levity

It's all good. A little sore spot for me. I don't mind fixing things.
worked the shop for a few years. If I can, I will fix it myself rather
than wait for a service truck to show up. Seems my boss figured
that out.......Maybe if I act ignorant, stop suggesting how to fix it....

Happy Turkey Day to everyone out there.

    You're the better for it.

You just need to change your outlook. It wasn't unpaid labor....you were paid in experience. Now you can take those skills elsewhere where they are more appreciated. That boss thought enough of you to give you a busted up old truck so you could hone your skills. Biggest disservice a boss can do to a new driver is put him in a new truck. Funny part is, I'm only half joking LOL

You are right. I actually feel sorry for some I have met on the road.
I have met guys with absolutely no idea whatsoever how their truck
works. How can someone who knows nothing at all about a truck even
    do a proper pretrip?
