There is no doubt that i like my 3406C and would run a mechanical engine for just the same reason that I think power steering, syncros, auto shifts and all the other stuff that has made trucks so that anybody can drive them.
The improved engine braking on the cam opened injector engines is a big plus. I don't mind the electronic engine conscept but I don't want to send an ECM to some programer that has never seen a fuel injector. And I just luv the electronic troubleshooting instructions "replace with known good unit"
thats handy if your 50 miles back in the bush. With each "improvement":biggrin_2553: we loose 2 freedoms

The cruise control for the mechanical engines is made by King Controls in Minnesota, I have one. The cable broke on it and I never fixed it. It worked great for a long time. You can still buy parts for them unless you have an older one like mine. They are the same people who make the King Dome satellite dish.[/QUOTE]

King Controls is now King Cruise, they were going out of business, but the employees bought them out.if you didn't know when the cable breaks you have to send the box in to have it replaced.i think the cost is 375 or 500 for a new box.the year model of the box doesn't matter,it can be updated to a newer model, due to the internals are the same.

i have the fuel & boost harness on my truck,so it smokes a bit,but i get better fuel mileage.is this a good trade on the wasted fuel side.

i spoke to a tech on the phone and he said the cruise box plugs into existing wire harness.the cable connects to the fuel pump and the box has a motor in it that winds the cable in until the speed is set.i have a bmodel and i love it,i'm trying to get my box replaced now.
